Nick Saban (ex-HC Alabama Crimson Tide)

Indeed. If you think losing sends fanbases off the deep end, winning is even worse.
This is why I'm contented with what we have. Urban win us one. Brought us back to the top. I'm not going to be a fan that drives him away wanting more. If rather have him take a load off and enjoy coaching ohio state for another decade than act like the gator fans did.

Just so I understand this rationale, if Urban doesn't win the next two national titles, he's slipping? Because that seems to be the thought process on Saban, and I think it's a little...out there.
Indeed. Saban may be a bit of a mercenary when it comes to recruits and kids, but it's really hard to question his coaching ability. He's been at, or VERY near the top most of the last 6 years.

It's very hard to win National Titles. I think you illustrated the point. That's why next year's season, although we're all expecting greatness, is still going to be a struggle from day one because it always is....

give it a rest....Saban and UFM are 1a and 1b when it comes to coaching their kids.

I guess it came out a little harsh, but what I mean is his recruiting ability is far and away his best attribute. He doesn't sign #1 classes, he signs classes that usually blow away #2. He's said as much himself.

"No, I'm not the best coach in the country, but I am the best recruiter."

I think when teams like Wisconsin, sparty tcu Nebraska etc all compete (win or lose) but compete with auburn lsu Bama Georgia ole piss etc who regularly recruit MUCH better players shows how big of a coaching disparity it is.

Also shows the extent to which the recruiting services have systemically overrated Southern talent. I'm not saying that there isn't more talent down there, but when it's claimed that the entire BIG didn't recruit a single "5-star" talent this year, something's wrong with the rankings.

Let me know when/if tOSU actually survives the complacency and entitlement that come from winning a single championship, let alone 3 in a row. Remember 1969, remember 2003. Remember the Alamo.

2003 was more about Clarett going off the rails, the offense stagnating, and the D getting cumulatively exhausted as a result than it was about complacency. Still, this is the last year where any of the guys who went through 6-7 under Fickell will be around, so it may get harder to stave off a sense of entitlement.

Complacency, entitlement and overconfidence get you half the *ich/gan players toked up, per their own admission, on weed and loosing to Appalachian State.

I hope we stay the underdog for the next century...which I'm sure we will per ESPiN.

GO BUCKS!!!

If you think Meyer and Fickell will tolerate even the slightest sense of entitlement amongst the players, you need to rethink your position...

He's no Kirk Ferentz.
