Spartans add 'Bama, WVU to schedule


EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan State has signed contracts for home-and-home football series with Alabama and West Virginia.
Michigan State announced Monday it will play at Alabama in 2016 in the first meeting between the two schools. The programs will meet in East Lansing in 2017.

Alabama is led by former Spartans coach Nick Saban. Current Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio is a former Saban assistant.
Michigan State will play at West Virginia in 2014 with a date in East Lansing scheduled for 2015. The two programs have not met since 1942.

Well by 2017 Nick Saban will have left Alabama for Notre Dame, then Auburn, then the Saskatchewan RoughRiders, and then he'll get hired back at Bama. Should be a good game.

Saban dismisses four for violations

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama coach Nick Saban says four players have been dismissed for violating team rules.

Linebackers Brandon Fanney and Prince Hall, defensive back Alonzo Lawrence and running back Jermaine Preyear weren't on the roster released Wednesday, when the team reported for fall camp.

Charlie Higgenbotham and Chris Jackson have already transferred while four reserves left for medical reasons.

Saban said the most important mission of fall camp is not finding a starting left tackle or a backup quarterback. He said it's cultivating the intangible things like focus and discipline.

Running back signee Eddie Lacy got word from the NCAA clearinghouse that he was eligible on Wednesday.
