Nick Saban (ex-HC Alabama Crimson Tide)

Also, I’m not sure a Saban team would EVER go 3-9.

Has Saban ever been a part of defeating a historic team in a national championship game??? Lsu , Oklahoma 2003, Notre Dame, 2012, and 2015 Clemson were all decent. Texas was probably his best win in 2009 because they had Earl Thomas, but Mccoy got hurt and left the game.

Dantonio was the coordinator that upset the greatest team as far as talent goes in history beating 2002 Miami. Not even close. Guy is a masterful coach.

I need to see Saban win more games against actual good teams to judge how good he is. Dantonio beat 2015 Ohio St team also that was the second most talented team roster since Miami Florida as far as talent. His top wins are as good as any coach.

You wanna get simple?!?!? C'mon, let's get simple!

Mark Dantonio at Cincinnati: 18-17
Brian Kelly at Cincinnati: 34-6

So, Kelly > Dantonio, yes?

You are now wrong. He has done bad at Notre Dame now compared to Mark Dantonio. Notre dame finishes annually top 10 to top 15 recruiting and actually pulled Kraimer and the other big tackle in a recent class the top 2 Ohio prospects, plus he gets a ton of fast California kids. He has underachieved, simple as that. Michigan state has no athletes, none.

That's absolutely insane when you think about how talented the SEC has been these past couple of years. Yeah Bama has more talent but the gulf isn't so wide that a game can't snowball on you in a hurry in that conference.
In college, a large part of being the coach is recruiting talent. He's the best recruiter and system builder in the biz. He's def not the best X's and O's guy.

That is true, but you have to do something with the talent once it gets on campus. The other large part is having good (or great) assistant coaches.
That is correct. Especially so for a guy that isn’t so good at x’s and o’s like Saban. I think he has done so. You also have to convince the boosters and the university to write big checks, which he has also done.

Sure but even some of most talented teams in the country aren't above getting their doors blown off every once and awhile. See: Ohio State at Iowa 2017.
Saban has been pretty damn good at not letting this happen at Bama. Saturday was the first double digit loss I can remember in a long time.

Even in the last game against OSU, Bama had the ball to end the game with a chance to tie.
