NFL Rumors (Trades/Free Agents)

Joey Porter continues the trend this offseason of guaranteed money:

From ESPN.COM - While Porter, the former Steelers outside linebacker, was spending Monday trying to map out his trips to selected NFL cities, the Dolphins came in with an offer he couldn't refuse. Porter agreed to a five-year, $32 million contract that includes $20 million in guarantees.

5 yr 32 million isnt a huge deal, but it is that guarnateed money that makes it huge...

If he can play thru those 5 years and be productive it is a great deal for the Phins, but if he gets hurt or they want to release him then they made a bad deal.

Thats an excellent upgrade for Miami at their weakest defensive position. If Porter stays healthy Miami is once again one of the best defenses in the league. Cameron is completely overhauling the offense so who knows what kind of team Miami will finish with in 2007.

Denver reached an agreement Tuesday night with TE Daniel Graham on a five-year, $30 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed. The deal makes Graham the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

Minnesota reached an agreement with free agent wide receiver Bobby Wade on a five-year, $15 million deal.

The Raiders landed their first free agent by signing C Jeremy Newberry to a one-year contract. The deal included no bonus money.

The Cincinnati Bengals reached agreement with TE Reggie Kelly on a three-year, $9 million deal that includes a $3 million signing bonus.

Linebacker Brian Simmons, released by Cincinnati last month, has agreed to a three-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.

The Browncos at it again:

Redskins and Broncos could swap picks in Bly deal

According to the Washington Post, Denver and Washington are currently in trade talks centering around Dre Bly. One rumor has the Broncos sending Bly and a first and second round pick to the Redskins in exchange for the sixth overall pick in the draft.

The Broncos and Redskins have been frequent trade partners in the past and Dre Bly continues to request a trade to Washington, so expect some kind of deal to happen soon. Another rumor has Bly being moved for Ladell Betts.

I can really see why they would need Ladell Betts??? Didn't they just sign Travis Henry and they still have Mike Bell.

Cowboys/Brad Johnson

Yecch. you gotta be kidding me! No I am not an NFL scout or coach and no, I did not play pro football but I think Brad Johnson oughta get into coaching. His career is over. If he starts, the Cowboys will never have a winning record with him as a starter. I realize they didn't pay that much for him but that's a lot for a clipboard-holder.

I don't know what the Broncos are thinking, but it's nice work if you can get it for Betts. The key in Denver is to become the BACKUP RB. Then you're golden. If you go in to camp or the season as the starter, you're pretty much screwed.
