NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

Definitely based on most conventional thinking. On the other hand, these types of calls just make more sense and coaches should trend towards this being the norm.
Giving the ball back to Mahomes or Brady in that situation is why their teams win more games. I didn't feel like that was the right call, I felt like it was the only call.

Darnold seems to be doing just fine their in Carolina… Jets are cursed… really really glad they didn’t draft Fields

Their 2006 draft, taking D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold in the 1st, setup their moderate success for a decade because it enticed Favre and allowed them to groom a successor. Now they’re back to burning through QBs without addressing the OL.

Hell, this is a team that previously fired Carroll, Parcells, and ultimately lead to Belichick resigning after one day.

I was dubious of the Peyton & Eli MNF broadcast, but this is fucking gold. Getting Gronk and Favre on their video calls to break down plays in real time is amazing.

Loved the nugget from Favre that, when he went to the Jets, the playbook was backwards for what he’d run for 16 years in Green Bay. In GB the number was the protection and the word was the route combo, in NY the number was the route combo and the word was the protection. Brian Schottenheimer’s only job those years was translating the Jets play calls into Green Bay’s playbook terminology so Favre would know what to do.
