To Quon's credit, he's being an Oline that can't get him consistent yardage. So when he does tear one off, it's either on a blown gap or all him.

Kid had 1,300 yards his rookie season and was quite efficient then. The Gmen oline has been a dumpster fire since.

I'm not sure if you mean he wasn't boom or bust when you say efficient....so I'm sorry if I misinterpreted. But I had this conversation with a PSU homer a year or so ago.....and I love shitting on this kid, so here goes again. Here are his yardages from each game of his rookie year, along with his longest rush of the game (Avg w/o is average yards per carry without the longest run):

Team-|Car-|Yards-|Long-|Avg-|Avg w/o|

Obviously, he's crazy talented. You don't routinely bust off 50+ yard plays in the NFL if you suck. But he has always been this kind of RB. It's either a huge play, or almost nothing. Taking these stats + watching him a couple times...my theory is that he tries too hard to hit those home runs, and often gets caught in the backfield. I looked at the play-by-play for the Washington and Philly games, and saw a good handful of negative rushes to go along with those 4 chunk plays. My only interest in him in the NFL is as a fantasy asset.....so my view is slanted. But I'm not looking for a RB dependent on huge runs to be successful.

edit - And I want to acknowledge that if you take away the best runs of any player, of course the stats look worse. I just think Saquon is extra dependent on his long runs, moreso than the average player.

Damn, I don't want to put him anywhere near Barry's name but Sanders had a similar type of NFL career. He'd get stuffed or negative yardage 5 out of 6 times but that 6th carry would be magic. I guess as long as you hit that 6th run for something you might take it. Of course if those other runs are stuffed when you need to keep a drive going, it kinda fucks ya
