New York Knicks (2x NBA Champions)

I would have liked to see NY keep Gallinari or Felton, but I think they're still going to come out of it better. Billups is getting old, but he's still good enough to keep that team together and to be a leader. I haven't seen much of Brewer the last few seasons, but i know he's got a ton of talent and potential so hopefully that'll show with the Knicks.

If nothing else, NY should atleast make it that much harder for Miami to make it to the finals. Boston, Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta, and now New York are going to give them a hell of a time.
Billups won't be there next year, and it will be near impossible for the Knicks to get Deron or CP3.

I feel bad for Felton in all this because he probably won't even be starting in Denver.

This shit is worse than black tar heroin, i just can't stay away from the stupidity this is the NBA... what a joke, Nuggest got screwed, I woulda taken the Nets deal in a heartbeat. Knicks will be good until Billups retires then they'll be back to sucking. This "team" may look great on paper but they'll be about 10 games over .500 for the next couple of years.

The problem for the Knick and Heat is that they have so much money tied up in a few players that they won't be able to build a team around them. Hopefully the Celtics or Lakers can hold it together for one more year and then a young team that was built the right way can take over like the Thunder or Bulls. IMO this will be the best that the Heat and Knicks get especially once the new CBA is in place. Look for most of the loopholes to get closed. When you add that to the lack of draft pick both of these teams are good but not great for the next 6 years.

Come on ... they'll take pay cuts to "win" and play with their buddies.. didn't Lebitch,Wade, & Bosh prove this earlier? Sorry if you can't read the sarcasm in my text :)

how did the Nuggets get screwed? They saved a ton of money and got a ton of young talent. In the long run, I think Denver will end getting the better end of it.

Out of those four 4 1st rounders only one of them realistically could have ended up a high lottery pick. I know Favors was a lottery pick and has a lot of potential but I think the Nuggets made out pretty well.

Not to mention there is still going to be some moves made my Denver and others before the deadline Thursday.

1. there was no definitive proof that NJ would have given up 4 1sts and favors. besides, most of those picks are late 1sts acquired from other teams. those are hardly overly attractive.

2. denver saved a ton of money and got some actual talent in return from the knicks.

3. the clippers are rumored to be offering minnesota's 2012 unprotected 1st round pick for gallinari, which will yield a better player than anything jersey could give.

I guess just a difference of opinion, i'd rather have picks even if they are mid/late 1st round than some of the garbage the Knicks gave them. Even if they can then trade that garbage for more picks.. love how ESPN is saying this is gonna be great for the knicks.. man I hate esp(i)n and the NBA.. what a worthless league i hope what happened to the NHL happens to NBA..

IMO, the latter part of #2 above is only true if #3 comes to fruition.

Denver will be better for this deal.

Marshmellow is fat and would have become even more of a cancer.

Billups, while clearly not a driver for this deal doesn't have a ton left in the tank.

The Knicks are now built around a fat guy who hogs the ball, a guy who is on his last legs and a guy in Amare with bad knees. Add to that the system run by the Knicks is absolutely not suited for what those three guys bring to the table.

Awesome :slappy:

Denver might already be better for this trade.

A better open floor PG was acquired in Raymond Felton. George Karl would never say it, but he'd much rather have Ty Lawson and Ray running the show.

On top of that, as good of an isolated scorer as Carmelo is, he just isn't an elite championship level player. His style isn't conducive to the running tempo Karl likes, or D'Antoni likes for that matter. But unlike the Cavs had, Denver actually has a ridiculously good scorer and athlete in J.R. Smith waiting in the wings behind Melo. And Smith is actually great in the open floor and isn't an iso player.

I don't think Denver loses at all in this trade. The talent they got back, with the new Knicks infused onto the roster makes Denver as good as they were IMO.

Lawson, Felton
Smith, Afflalo
Chandler, Gallinari
Martin, Harrington
Nene, Birdman

is actually as good as if not better than:

Billups, Lawson
Afflalo, Billups
Melo, Smith
Martin, Harrington
Nene, Birdman

JR Smith now being able to start clears the path for him. He was staggered with Melo b/c there wasn't enough ball to go around. Afflao probably comes off the bench with Gallinari which instantly adds depth the Nuggets didn't have.

I don't know..maybe I'm taking crazy pills. I don't see a drop off post all-star break at all for Denver. Probably a similar record to what they went into the break with.....

BTW Chauncey Billups was a class act and a fan favorite so I'd never expect their GM to kick his ass on the way out. But ask George Karl and now Mike D'Antoni what they think about Chauncey running an open court offense for them. There's a reason everyone remembers Big Shot in Detroit. Half-court, grind it out team. Karl is probably slobbering at the thought of having Felton and Lawson pushing the ball. There's no drop off in talent between Lawson and Felton, and Lawson was already ripping minutes away from Billups. The Nuggets were also using Chauncey a lot at the 2 when Lawson came in because they really didn't have any depth there. Now they've got plenty of depth across the board.
