New Uniforms/Nike Changes (Basketball)

This seems like the best place to ask, so here it goes.

Does anyone know where to buy a pair of the older style shorts that were worn until midway through the '07 season?

Eastbay used to sell them a few years ago, but unfortunately I missed out on them. Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

LSU is one of a handful of schools from across the country selected to sport the 2011 Nike Pro Combat system of dress uniforms for a game this season. Other schools include the United States Military Academy (Army), Boise State, Georgia, Michigan State, United States Naval Academy, Ohio State, Oregon, and Stanford.
The uniforms will hit the field on opening day of the 2011-12 college football season and throughout the year during some of fiercest rivalries in college football. Dates include Oregon vs. LSU at Cowboys Stadium (Oregon only; 9/3), Boise State vs. Georgia at the Georgia Dome (9/3), Michigan State vs. Michigan (10/15), LSU vs. Auburn (10/22), Ohio State vs. Wisconsin (10/29), Stanford v. Notre Dame (11/27) and the annual service academy bragging rights matchup between two of the nation's most prestigious football programs - Army vs. Navy (12/10).

OSU will be sporting pro combats in the night game against Wisconsin on October 29th. Notable how 4 of the 6 games chosen are against non-Nike schools (Wisconsin, Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame).

I don't really care about the uniforms (good/bad), but I'm beginning to think my suspicions with Gene Smith is true (not a leader but a bean counter).

If Ohio Stadium or the WHAC was burning to the ground, Gene Smith would issues a press release saying the football team was wearing Nike Pro Combat uniforms.

If there's a buck to be made (no pun intended), Gene Smith would find a way to squeeze it out.

I'm just generally surprised he hasn't sold the naming rights to Ohio Stadium yet to Wexner.

I'm fine with wearing a different style uni against Wisconsin..the Michigan thing was really fucking bothering me but I have no problem going to an alt uni once a year.

I have to ask though..what the fuck Nike? If these "state of the art" uniforms are so great why aren't schools being provided with the technology in the normal uni's they wear already? This shit came out 2 years ago for christ sakes you can't really sell it as some ground breaking technology like you did the first time we wore them.

agreed, I think it's fine to wear a different uni for a big time game, I think it gets the players pretty pumped as well

A little plain, but a welcome change from the usual theatrics from nike.
A little? I'm against the hodgepodge of stuff Nike normally throws on their jerseys, but this is just the other extreme.

Once again, the late 90's early 2000's had it right.

I don't get what's so difficult about copying that design into whatever modern technology may be being used.

And what is with Nike not being able to do metallic pants (gold or silver)?!! Those PU pants are just...blah.

As someone with a sense for design, what do you think about the font on the numbering? I feel like they try to do something 'flashy' and 'cool' but it always ends up looking juvenile or effeminate.

Whether it be way over the top or plain with fruity numbers, whoever the designers at Nike are seriously need to be fired. It is ridiculous how awful they are at just coming up with nice looking designs.

The Purdue unis a couple posts up from here are a billion times better.

Nike better not fuck this up! Sometimes things should be left alone. Both services don't like Millenial shit. Although, the Navy seems to be a little more willing to adjust to Pop Culture.

I think this nails it. Those shoulder stripes did come to mind when I saw the plain unis posted earlier. The shoulder stripes are almost invisible other than the all black uni.

Take the above unis, put the shine back in them, add simple, minimalistic dual shoulder stripes with a colored v-neck and you have a perfect basic uni.

86, I don't care for Nike's ongoing war with typography. These numbers aren't terrible (see Oregon, Mich St, Boise St), but they're a definite step back from the traditional block lettering.

I also hate the conversion to female jersey numbering. Perhaps the mid-90s massive numbers are no longer stylish, but why do the shoulder pads & numbers look so dainty now? :shake:
