Isn't he already dead and eaten? If so, then it's all in the past and you should not trouble the waters with your petty concerns.

Let's talk about what's actually important. Have you located and trained other zombie killers? Were you effective at it? After you trained them, how many zombies were they able to kill? Can you project how many more zombies you and your trainees should be able to kill in the coming year?

I await your response, and for God's sake, try to stay on topic.

So many things in life are subjective. Like seeing a little "horseplay" in a shower. You knew of it for a decade, it was still "horseplay". You hear from your fellow coaches that there was lots of "horseplay". But, it's a good idea not to drop your soap if ol Jer is around because he really, really likes "horseplay"!!!!!

We can probably all agree on what we think of a person who knowingly remains in an organization when they are fully aware that is it foul with corruption. We know what that says about their character.

What about the individual who is wholly ignorant of the corruption around them, until one day when the obscene extent of that corruption is irrefutably revealed...and then they still choose to remain? Is Loyalty still admirable when pledged to a destructively sick institution? What does choosing to stay say about their character then? What would you have chosen?

I'm tempted to use the word "disingenuous" out of courtesy, but in truth the term I really want to apply is "hypocritical."

The Ped State thread regularly ridicules their rabid fans as a cult, and lambasts their choice to elevate considerations of football and the illusion of a legacy over decency and fundamental human concerns like the well-being of children. In other threads here (Sandusky, Paterno), it has been an almost universal given that Sandusky was enabled, empowered, supported, lied for, looked the other way for, and protected by the power structure and by his associates at PSU. I don't recall ever seeing any specific staff names excluded from the ranks of those held complicit at some level by members of this board...at least not until recently...not until one of theirs became one of ours.

Isn't being untouchable because of the position he held on a football team how Jerry Sandusky was able to perpetrate his crimes for so many years?
And, the fans who cared more for the image of their team than they did about the destruction of young lives--weren't they seen as contemptible?

Personally I don't feel hypocrisy over it.
I never had an issue with any of the assistants. The issue with JoePa is that he definitely knew and actively covered it up.
The issue with his son -- and the cult -- are their efforts to whitewash everything. I suppose they *might* have an argument that JoePa did everything legally required... but he's still a morally despicable man.
I haven't read the Freeh report; but if there's some source verifying LJ knew, I'll be at the front of the line demanding Ohio State cut all ties with him. I've never said anything negative about Vanderlinden or any of the other assistants. What disturbs me is how the Paterno family and Paterno loyalists have handled the entire issue, starting with Joe himself.
I believe the real issue with LJ Sr. was exactly what this thread was originally about -- deceitful recruiting practices. And I think some people, wishing to put more weight behind their dislike for him when rumors started surfacing, desired to connect everybody at Penn State to Sandusky. Anyway, I'm aware the deceitful recruiting took place back around 2006 or 2007... I'm curious if it's continued to the present ? Ultimately, I think that's something that can be forgiven and forgotten. I realize recruiting is going to be dirty to some extent, but I would agree that manufacturing stories about non-existent institutionalized racism is beyond the pale... and I hope he doesn't use that method while employed at Ohio State.
