Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

So what? Give Urban eleventy-billion?

Short of that, how do they recruit? Currently, the absolute worst program in the B1G West, and if Schiano is really turning things around, then they're the worst in the entire B1G. No natural recruiting base in state or in any surrounding state. Glory years that happened when current recruits' parents were still in high school. They had three great decades from the 70s to the 90s, but even then Tom Osborne had to sell his soul to prop-48 kids from Cali and Jersey and flat out criminals like Lawrence Philips and Christian Peter to get over the hump.

The college football landscape has passed them by just like it once did powerhouses like Fordham.
The Sears Roebuck of college football.

Cover 3 Podcast mentions Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Luke Fickell, Matt Campbell, Matt Rhule, Tom Herman , Dan Mullen, Chris Peterson, Gary Patterson, & Deion Sanders  as potential hires for Nebraska, to varying degrees of realistic expectation

Gary Patterson would be a reeeeally interesting hire. Matt Campbell I feel would be ideal for how he can bring the program around culture & success wise, but would this be big enough of a move up or him?

Nebraska football coaching search: CBS Sports releases list of candidates for Huskers' vacancy

I seriously doubt that Urban would be interested.....

Rivals recruiting classes (rank, number - 5★-4★-3★):

2022: #41, 18-0-3-15
2021: #18, 20-0-3-17
2020: #17, 26-0-11-13
2019: #15, 28-0-11-17
2018: #21, 25-0-9-15

Just sayin': Frost has top 25 recruiting classes (2018 - 2021) so he had some talent; however, it didn't result in wins on the football field. It probably is time for Corn to make a coaching change.

Patterson would have been interesting a decade ago. He's 62 now and was 22-23 at TCU over the last 4 seasons. I don't see a 62 year old taking on what is essentially a ground up rebuild in corn country. The rest...

Urb - Not even worth discussing
Stoops - " "
Fickell - " "
Campbell - Iowa State is a better job right now and his next move is probably NFL
Rhule - If he gets fired by the Panthers, he'll have more attractive options.
Herman - Maybe? He's a hell of an offensive mind, still young and maybe he performs better in a smaller fishbowl. Hell, Cornfan should be thrilled with Mensa's record in Austin.
Mullen - I wouldn't say zero chance, but I don't see Mullen in Lincoln. Maybe he says "fuck it" and tries to rehab his image in Lincoln?
Peterson - West coast guy his whole life. He ain't coming out of retirement to coach in Lincoln, NE.
Deion - I'd pay good money to see 'Prime Time' in Lincoln.

Frost should’ve never left UCF.
And out of the coaches listed,I see only a slimmest of chances with Leonhard or O’Brien. I Nebraska gets an assistant from a G5 school, not much going for that program. There’s no talent in state, or even in surrounding states other than CO and MO. And their best players go to top schools and don’t consider Corn. Gone are the days where Osborne was bringing in guys from Cali, FL, TX, etc

They have 2 things going for them. They are still considered "a name" and they are in what is considered to be 1 of thhe 2 coming superconferences. They might be able to pick off a coach from one of the left behinds.

IDK what coach who is already known, would want to coach in Lincoln, NE. The fanBase and boosters still think that they’re relevant and don’t know why they can’t win like OSU.
Firing Bo Pelini set them back years. He got them 9 or 10 wins every year. They’ve had 1 9 win season since he was canned in 2016

Yeah, Corn's window of opportunity is now. They are in the B1G West and they only have to beat Iowa, Minnesota, & Wisconsin, etc. to get into the B1G Championship Game. There's talk of the B1G eliminating the divisions, Corn would then have the almost impossible task of finishing in the top 2 against Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, & USC, etc. Their fanbase needs to realize that if Corn has a winning record and gets into a decent bowl game it was a very good season (and a great season, if they win the bowl game).

Regardless, you have to "admire" Pelini's style; calling the AD "a fucking lawyer who makes policies," a "total pussy" and a "total cunt" at a team meeting.....

On November 30, 2014, after the conclusion of the regular season, Pelini was fired by Nebraska Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst, effective immediately. The University is contracted to pay Pelini $7.65 million in salary following his termination in the form of $150,000 monthly payments for the next 51 months. The total liquidation to be paid to Pelini is roughly $7.9 million.

Pelini left the NU football program with a 67–27 record, winning at least 9 games in every season. Despite this record Nebraska never won a conference title under Pelini. Eichorst stated at a press conference that Pelini hadn't won "the games that mattered the most" against top-tier opponents. Barney Cotton was announced as interim head coach, and prepared the team for its bowl game.

On December 17, the Omaha World-Herald obtained audio of Pelini attacking Eichorst in vulgar terms while addressing his players on December 2. Pelini questioned Eichorst's integrity, calling him "a fucking lawyer who makes policies," a "total pussy" and a "total cunt." In response, Nebraska claimed that Pelini had been fired in part for "a pattern of unprofessional, disrespectful behavior" toward players, fans and Nebraska employees.

Pelini's problem wasn't being 9-3. His problem was being a complete loon on the sideline and getting blown the fuck out more often then not in those 3. If Scott frost would have gotten them to 9-3 and made those 3 competitive more often then not they would have loved him for it

That's a massive IF for Frost! And the reality is, he didn't, he sucked as a HC at Corn. Pelini's teams and record laugh in Frost's face. I'm sure their fan base would be fine with blowouts to top 10 teams and still getting to 9 wins, over losing to GA Southern(not UGA, not even GA Tech)! They had 3 wins last year- NW, Buffalo and freaking Fordham! Talk about Bo all you want, but I'd much rather have a loon who wins than a "Prodigal Son" who can't handle the pressure of the job and can't win with the average talent he's bestowed with
