Honestly the more I think about it the more it makes sense. He was going to be fired either way.
This was probably Nebraska's way of taking care of Frost.

Man, I'm surprised Frost did so poorly at Nebraska. After such a great job at UCF you would think coming home was just what the doctor ordered for them. It just didn't work out.

Eh, I think Nebraska was just showing their overall appreciation for Frost who played at Nebraska and did his best.
Would've been pretty low to wait to save the money.

Short of that, how do they recruit? Currently, the absolute worst program in the B1G West, and if Schiano is really turning things around, then they're the worst in the entire B1G. No natural recruiting base in state or in any surrounding state. Glory years that happened when current recruits' parents were still in high school. They had three great decades from the 70s to the 90s, but even then Tom Osborne had to sell his soul to prop-48 kids from Cali and Jersey and flat out criminals like Lawrence Philips and Christian Peter to get over the hump.
The college football landscape has passed them by just like it once did powerhouses like Fordham.
