Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

I'm guessing you mean Lawrence Phillips, not Tommie Frazier. LP was the psycho Osborne tried to rehabilitate, much to his public shame. Frazier was the QB who made that VASTLY overrated run when the Gator D had let up.

Man I wish Ohio State's QBs would have had a few more "VASTLY overrated runs" against Florida in 2006

I did not watch the video. I had Lawrence on my mind.

It was an epic butt whipping, to be sure. But it was growing pains for a program trying to join the big boys. I will never be ashamed of getting to a National Championship game. That is quite the accomplishment in and of itself. There were over a hundred teams that could not get there.. So losing is disappointing, but getting there is a huge positive that should not be discounted.

So you're saying you'd like to reverse roles with us in Nawlins this winter?

...[censored] you.

:susp:
 Yeah, well they still are. Experiences can vary, but the Husker fans in the '96 butt whipping were more polite than the Buckeyes at my hotel before the '07 BCSCG. And I know, every fanbase has them. But ask around, and you will see how the Nebraska fans are held in high esteem. My buddy is a stinking, putrid Nole fan. He went to the FSU-Nebraska game back in the day when Bobby was playing anybody as an independent. When underdog FSU beat the Huskers at home, he said the Nebraska fans gave the Noles a standing ovation as they left the field to honor them.

That would not happen at the Shoe or at the Swamp now, with our spoiled rotten fans......IMO.

Where do I sign????? :banger:

 I see us losing at least five games in 2011.

haha i'm just playing. I've had nothing but great experiences with Husker fans. I have family that live in Omaha and Fremont who are Husker fans. Trying to organize a little exchange. They get me tix to OSU/NEB in Lincoln this year and I'll return the favor for Columbus next.

We give the opponent a Standing O after every game. There have been a couple of times, mostly during the Callahan Era, where the number of fans doing it were pretty sparse, but it's a tradition that we show respect to the opponent for competing. Like you said, every fanbase has their share of asshats and we're not immune, but I've seen fights started because one Husker fan was defending visitors from other Husker fans who were misbehaving.

It is our goal that you enjoy your stay in Lincoln, no matter how boring everything but the game is.

I haven't spent much time in Fremont. My cousin/family that lives in Fremont was in Council Bluffs for a while, and then my other cousin/family lives right in Omaha. I've only been to Fremont once to visit while in town thus far.

My two cousins grew up in Iowa as Hawkeye fans. They both moved to Council Bluffs and married Husker fans from Omaha/Fremont.

Does Texas get one

Absolutely:

"We have the greatest fans in the world." At some point all coaches or athletes credit their fans for help with a win, an atmosphere or just for being great fans.

So when Mack Brown talked about great fans ? and he wasn?t talking about his own UT fans ? it said a lot for what he thinks of the Huskers.

"People ask why I always liked Nebraska - their fans are great. It's one of the special places to coach and play in college football," said Brown.

Granted, Brown has good reason to love them. They gave Ricky Williams a standing ovation after he helped Texas end NU?s 47 game home winning streak in 1998.

Brown then won again in 2002 - and again in 2006. In fact the Longhorns are 8-1 against the Cornhuskers since the formation of the Big 12.

While that?s nice and all - Nebraska fans have changed their tone about the Longhorns in the last few years. Adding a second back to the clock in the Big 12 Championship broke the back of that camel.

Even so - expect the majority of fans to treat Texas as they do anyone - with respect. Kill 'em with kindness - then kill 'em.

We did it again last October, after we pissed that game down our leg in the most frustrating way imaginable.

You aren't missing anything. It's a dumpy, stinky little podunk town. I moved out of that hole on my 18th birthday.
