I can only imagine how rude it appeared, but please give our kicker the benefit of the doubt. If there is a school that appreciates sportsmanship and college football tradition, it's Nebraska. I'm sure it looked very bad, but I have to believe it was just a big mistake on our kicker's part.
Does he usually warm up at the same time and place?

Having been in a marching band before...the kicker thing is just bullshit. Time on the clock be damned, if anyone not part of the band routine comes out on the field during any part of the performance they deserve whatever crap they catch. It is known common courtesy at all levels, and at a homecoming game especially you don't expect to have much warmup time before the 2nd half, that's just the way it is. It was bush league on the part of Nebraska because all their coaches should know that it is disrespectful and bad form to be on the field (again, regardless of time on the clock) the same time as the band. I'm really surprised one of the band assistants (surely there are extra staff for a band the size of ours) or even field crew didn't go out and tell them to get off the field or stop them from getting there in the first place. If they really have an issue with the time taken up, you take that up afterwards with the proper folks. [/band geek rant]

Now then, as for the half time show itself...holy crap, that was amazing! Loved the castle bit at the end, and the horse was ridiculously impressive.

Our team, well, I think the scoreboard says most of what I could say. Just wow. I am really excited to see where we go from here.

In my heart of hearts I do not think there was some grand conspiracy to interupt script Ohio. If Bo Pelini at any point had a conversation with a kicker that had words like "go out there and practice from the 35 on the north end zone because thats where they dot the I" he is really fu****g stupid and thinking about things that do not matter as a football coach. A kicker wondered out on to the field and did somthing dumb is the likely scenario.

I agree but it was Homecoming which always stretches half time and I'm sure ABC would have been fine with the Refs giving some extra warm up time .more commericials.

I prefer spork thank you
I presume that would be one of our US military's fine $250 titanium sporks.

BTW, I've seen our own kickers practicing (both Ohio Stadium and away) before halftime is over; is there some convention that, say, the last 5 minutes before halftime expires should be available for on-field practice? Or is it assumed that you just need to satisfy yourself on the sidelines? I really don't know the answer. I can see either the band and home fans being pissed, or the opposing team being pissed, given that the (great) halftime show seemed to run awfully close to 0:00 on the clock.

Yep. I think it's 2-3 minutes left, but I don't remember.
