Nebraska +9.5 at Wisconsin (ov/un 55.5) Sat 8 ET, ABC

I don't know if it is the defense or the offense that is the issue for Big Red. However, what I can tell you is that the BlackShirts used to be totally dominant. No, not just for series or a quarter or two, but for the whole damn game. I enjoyed watching them in Memorial Stadium during that time as they would just flat out shut people down.
The "D" has never been the same since Charlie McBride retired....:(

A
Passing - 104th (no surprise since we're a run-first team)

Given this stat, I am not sure at all how either team is going to move the ball. Looks like another 10-7 barnburner one way or another. I was joking before about pick sixes, but this game really might be won by a defensive score, special teams score or who kicks the most field goals.

How's your kicking game and coverage?

Our kicker is fantastic. Our coverage is kind of weak, same as most of D1A this year. Lots of teams are covering poorly, and we're one of them.

We have the #1 KR in the nation, though - Ameer Abdullah, a true Freshman, will make you cry if you don't have a sound coverage team.

Let's face it, there's issues all the way around. The D needs to play better, the O is still (in my opinion) a one dimensional offense. It's the same live-or-die by one guy that we've seen for years, and that's why I thought that Solich needed to be replaced (not like he WAS, but his playcalling was stagnant).

I have only seen 2 Nebraska games in the past two years so take this for what its worth. One thing I noticed about Martinez.....

He just doesn't have the arm strength to be an above average passer. Even on intermediate throws he looks like he is putting in 110% effort to get the ball there. He looks like he is just heaving the ball on a 15 yard throw. Most QBs can just flick thier wrist on those 15 yard passes. Not him.

You're correct. He has to throw that hard because he throws off his back foot. He drops his back shoulder and shot-puts the ball. The nose of the ball is always down and it all culminates into a very inaccurate throw.

He throws a decent deep ball, and he can hit his deep outs if it's his first read. But get him to hesitate on his first or second read and he's lost. They've taught him to just pull the ball down and run after only a few seconds in the pocket. You'll see it on Saturday.
