ND/Weis various topics

I guess it's a good thing for your ego that the texans took williams... hawk was probably going #2 to the saints. It's much more difficult to go top-5 as a LB than as a QB, so I would argue that is a better achievement by Hawk (assuming your wonderboy lives up to the predictions (unlike White and Leinart).

As for this stupid argument over who is better, they played head to head, and Hawk wiped the fiesta turf with Brady repeatedly. Brady didn't throw a single TD.

That last paragraph shows me how little you know about the game of football..... WOW!

no doubt brady's a good prospect, I never argued otherwise. I'm not sure why you felt the need to insult his looks, popularity and draft status, especially after Hawk just dominated ND in a bowl game and went extremely high in the draft (for a linebacker).

The same reason many of you choose to insult ND's coach I guess.

Doesn't matter what board it is, bottom line it is not right. But as usual it was started here by a Buckeye fan. Anyway I was just repeating some things that my friends told me after seeing AJ and Laura together. And believe me I put it much nicer than it was told to me.

actually it does matter what board it's on, b/c every board on the internet gives their own members more freedom with jokes about rival teams (ie Cheaty Mc$weaterve$t flies on other boards, but will get you in trouble on a buckeye board). And if it 'is not right' then why bring up the hawk jokes at all?

ND has had more success at QB in the NFL than OSU has at LB.That being said I think AJ Hawk will be an ALL-PRO in 3-5 years, if not sooner.

Hmmm.....any truth at all to this statement?

Let's look at NFL success....Joe Montana and.............? I guess you would go with Joe Theismann, Daryle Lamonica and Steve Buerlein as next? Not exactly an awe-inspiring list.

And considering Brady plays for the most popular team in America and will probably be a higher draft choice than AJ!! Well......NUFF SAID!!

Your claim as being the "most popular team in America" is unfounded at best. We showed in the Fiest Bowl we have a bigger fan base...the most generous fan count for ND fans was "almost half", where most accounts put it at 60-40 OSU fans. Considering ND is about 250 miles closer to the FB than is Columbus and you're supposedly "more popular", how do you explain that?

Wow, a QB getting drafted higher than a LB...now that's a real news flash. :roll1: We all saw who was the better football player head-to-head, and he's wearing green--Green Bay green.

Hawk is going to play 10+ years in the NFL, most likely with the same team the whole time, and will be playing in Honolulu many times. Quinn has "journeyman" written all over him...

Brady may not turn out to be as good of an NFL player as AJ but he is getting pointers from the best.

No, Chief, that wasn't your point because no Weis-coached quarterback has made it to the NFL. You were reacting to protect the reputation of Notre Dame and in that respect you are fighting an unwinnable fight.

I don't understand what you are upset about. As I see it, the board has noted that
  1. Notre Dame is the most over-rated team in college football. This is an objective fact determined by objective analysis of pre-season and post-season rankings, as you well know. No dispute there.
  2. Weis is over-weight. I don't think that there is much case in disputing that he is officially classified as obese. So, that's not an insult, it's an observed fact.
  3. He tends to diminish and disrespect opponents that beat him with back-handed compliments usually starting with the words, "Now, I don't want to take anything away from [your opponent here], but the fact is that they did not beat us, we beat ourselves." Just check any game interview after a loss and you can verify that.
  4. The comments about his SuperBowl rings, earned as an assistant coach no less, being better than Jim Tressel's accomplishments showed a distinct lack of respect, tact, and diplomacy. Hard to disagree with that one, and I think we found out who the better coach was in the Fiesta Bowl.
  5. He grandstanded when he used a play called by a dying kid early in the year. If this was really such a selfless act, then Weis would have kept it to himself. He didn't. Notre Dame made press releases about it. Many of us at first complimented him when he did it, but when he continued and the story picked up steam, opinions changed. The opinions changed based on his observed behavior. So, hard to see this any other way.
  6. Notre Dame fans annointed him as the promised son as they did Willingham before him. Go back and look at the press after Willingham's first year. Hard to disagree with that one.
  7. Notre Dame deserved to be in a BCS Bowl less than Oregon. They played a weaker schedule last year than normal and they got in because of being over-rated and because of their special deal. These facts can be objectively verified. It is unfair, plain and simple, that Notre Dame plays a few name teams at the start of the year, then pads with some of the lowest rated teams, before the annual loss to USC, and then claims to deserve a better deal than teams that have to play tougher schedule and conference title games. Oh, and before you go there, Ohio State Michigan is the title game in the Big Ten.
  8. Finally, no matter how much Domers may wish it were different, Charlie had a huge amount of time to prepare for Ohio State and he and his team were out-coached and out-played in the Fiesta Bowl. It was not a small margin. It was an embarrassing rout.
Now, with all due respect, we know where your loyalties lie and many of us enjoy having you here. You don't have to enter into these senseless debates. No one's opinions are going to change.

The simple fact is that this is an Ohio State board. We're not drinking the Notre Dame Kool-Aid. Maybe we're wrong, only time will tell, but one thing I have learned in life is that it is a man's personality that eventually stops him from achieving greatness.

From what I have seen of Charlie Weis, I think he will be successful, but he will not achieve greatness. On the other hand, from what I have seen of Jim Tressel, I think he will.

I respect your right to hold a different opinion but there is no sense in arguing about it. Time will tell us all which one of us was right.

Mili- You really can't really believe that, can you?? You have more fans that show up to the game and that mean you have a bigger fan base? Every poll evr made has ND as number one in fan base. Besides you must be smart enough to klnow that Columbus is like 10 times bigger than SB. We have had this argument many times and you have lost everyone yet you try again?
