NCAA Football 2010 PS3 Super Conference

I keep going back and forth on the heisman versus all-american stuff. We're going to have 7 games this season where heisman will make the games more low scoring and competive, but still have 5 games against the cpu that will be very difficult. I could make the OOCs a little easier, but I know that I'd like to play against Michigan every year, but don't actually want to lose to them. I can imagine that everyone feels the same about their OOCs, especially their rivalry OOCs.

Has anyone played many online games using all-american? Was it still a cheese fest, or do you think we could get away with season 1 being on all-american?

I advanced the coach mode dynasty to week 1. [strike]If Piney and mania can play their game tonight, I'd like to get their feedback on whether they like this type of game play or not. This is just kind of a killing time experiment, but some people swear that this is the most tactical and cheese free way to play this game.

REMEMBER TO TURN ON 'AUTO PASS' IN THE GAME CONTROLS MENU!!!

Without autopass, you will be able to snap the ball and let the play run on running plays, but will have to manually pass the ball, and that sort of defeats the whole purpose of testing this thing out. I would actually suggest that create another profile and call it coach, so you don't screw up your profile settings for the other dynasties.[/strike]

Never mind. Coach mode is crap. Pryor just stands there with the ball. I haven't been able to get him to throw a pass yet. Boom runs all over the Navy defense though.

I'll just let everyone do their recruiting, and sim to the next week.

That was my plan all along. Was just going to let you sim my games.

I say we start at All-American as it plays a ton better than All-American last year. Plus it will give everyone a nice break-in period. The 2nd year of the dynasty is when everyone should have plenty of games in and ready for whatever good heisman sliders are out there.

My only question... does All-American/Heisman matter in human games? Never really thought it did.

It helps out on defense if they're just base sliders. The sliders that we had last year handicapped the human player, and actually made it easier to score on humans than the cpu, if you ran a mostly straight game against the cpu. IMO, the defensive players were so dumbed down that human defenses were routinely out of position when we played each other in seasons 2, 3, and 4 of your dynasty and both season ones of the MAC B10P10 dynasties. You bumped up the defensive awareness for human player in season 5, and I got rid of the sliders all-together. I think that both helped out some for the human games, but me going to default sliders destroyed the idea of the cpu even competing against us. Give and take I guess.

Rivalries for this dynasty.

Florida has two rivalry conference games in this dynasty. Miami and Georgia.

Florida's top 4 rivals do not include Georgia. Georgia's top 4 rivals do not include Georgia. The result of the Georgia-Florida game does effect both teams "Record vs. Rivals". The Cocktail Party is just called the "Florida-Georgia Game". It is played in Jacksonville every year, regardless of which conference the teams are in, and is considered a home game for both teams as far as recruiting is concerned.

Texas' top 4 rivals do not include Oklahoma. Texas is Oklahoma's top rival. The Red River [strike]Shootout[/strike] Rivalry is played in Dallas every year, regardless of which conference the teams are in, and is considered a home game for both teams as far as recruiting is concerned. The result of the game does effect both teams "Record vs. Rivals".

Olaf's UCLA doesn't seem to have any rivals, regardless of how I setup the teams, and regardless of what the 'Team Info' screen says.

USC loses UCLA as a rival, and seems to pick up the rival of the team they replace, but that "rivalry" never gets counted toward "Record vs. Rivals".

All other rivalries, in and out of conference, seem to remain intact.

Dynasty servers are down. I'll try again later tonight, or tomorrow morning.

BTW, Olaf is taking LSU. So now me AND fanatic have recruiting regions to ourselves.

That's going to suck. We should have just made a SEC dynasty.

By year 3 you guys are going to be unbeatable

I haven't started the dynasty yet. If anyone wants to switch to Cal or Penn State (A- teams), they can. Oregon, Oregon State, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Michigan are all B+ teams in either region as well.

Anyway, from what I've read, the progression in the game is going to make all of our teams unstoppable by year 3.

What do you mean? Are personnel development and recruiting out of control?
EA is supposedly starting incoming freshman out lower rated than they have in the past, and upping the progression from season to season. That way you don't have as many freshman coming in and dominating. The problem with that is that the underclassmen that are already in the game are already highly rated, and will be ungodly good with the bump in progression.

from the NCAA 2010 thread said:
Every off season each player gains anywhere from 3 to 10 points in his overall rating. This makes it nearly impossible to distinguish one player from another a few seasons into dynasty mode. I was simming to see what the rosters look like after a few years and found that after 3 full seasons--- there were 18 players with a 99 rating and over 100 in the 90's. Each team boasted at least 10 players in the 90s (barring the lower tier teams, but even they looked stacked.)

It is no fun to play a game where every player is within 7 points of each other.
I think the problem is that they weren't consistent with their changes to dynasty mode.

They said that they changed it so that recruits come in rated much lower than in the past years but progression is much quicker. However, the freshmen on the default roster(by that I mean the one off of EA Locker) are just as highly rated, if not higher, than in the past. My theory is that many of the freshmen on the default roster progress as quickly as the generated recruits are supposed to; however, most of them are more highly rated than future generated recruits will be. Because of this, there will be many 90's in the first few years of dynasty.

Yeah this is how it works. Once someone creates a custom roster and lowers the ratings of the default roster across the board, the problem we see with 30+ 99 OVR players 4 years into Dynasty won't be a problem. I simmed 3 or 4 dynasties 4 years into the future and all of these guys were highly rated freshmen from the default roster not new recruits, unless they were JUCO transfers, I had no way of tracking that.
Quote:
At the start of year six in Dynasty, here are some player rating facts to address the question of player progression from earlier in the thread:

- 29 players have ratings of 99 OVR
- Every school has three QBs

...

One thing that people on there were confused about is that when you change a player's position from say HB to FB on the PS3, the player's AGI and BTK decrease in addition to their AWR. On the 360 however, only the AWR decreases (this is how it should work).
