I read somewhere before the game came out that said there's no new recruits in the offseason that show up. It's garbage time with whats left and who you're already going after

In a way, I like that... I look at it like the gems are replacing the offseason added recruits... IF they could somehow kind of re-rank the existing kids or make the gems and busts stand out somehow at the end of the year, it would be a little more realistic.

I hate using the term "broken", because very few videogames are truly broken. They may have features we dislike or issues, but in the end, the game is usually playable. That changes with NCAA Football 13, the game is broken, there's no other way to put it. It's without a doubt the most glitch filled game I've ever played, even more so than last year's debacle.

So what lead me to this, the above screen shot from a game I had? (If you want to know, USC used the "QB snap to the center back to the QB" formation all game long, not just once.) No, what kills NCAA 13 is the fact that it can't be played. I cannot play the game without it freezing, therefore it's unplayable.

So, has anyone figured out what they broke during this update? It's only a matter of time...
...
I thought for a brief second, maybe it's only me. I went to the OS forums to check others impressions of the patch, sure enough, many are suffering from the halftime freeze. Basically a patch was released to fix the offline dynasty freezes only to then add a new freeze during the actual game. Lovely!

Truly a disaster of a release that's completely unplayable. I won't waste any further time with the game, it went out to Amazon today. It's an amazing fall how far the NCAA series has fallen from grace. Every release gets worse and worse. Someone should give the NCAA series the death penalty at this point, and start it all over fresh in a few years.

I was able to play my online dynasty game without a freeze, but then tried to play my offline dynasty and it froze while trying to do some kind of ESPN update graphic in the second half....

The big thing that is pissing me off is that I have been unable to upload highlights in my OD.... I have had some crazy plays, some good, some simply just crazy, but I cant share!

And thus is the annual cycle that is NCAA football.

buy game "it's the best version ever!"
1 month passes "it's broken/glitched/exploits - NEEDS patch NOW!"
/numerous patches over several months where patches overcompensate for previous issues. ex: Before "defenders mirror the receiver too much, passing sucks!" After: "defenders can't cover for shit, passing's too easy!" You can substitute rushing, blocking, AI, etc

general dismay over the game ensues over the following 8 months until the next release.

repeat.

I haven't had any freezes since the patch but I also haven't done much offline since then. I typically had freezes in my offline test dynasties.

I really wish he had captured a video of the USC / South park snap.

I popped in NCAA12 just to get my fix and it has started to freeze on me after about an hour of play during recruiting. WTF EA!? You weren't happy with fucking up NCAA13? You had to go back and piss on the old version too?

One thing I would like to know is why ONLY the computer is aloud to run a fake kick/punt... mainly fake punts. They ran two fake punts on me yesterday in my OD game. Each of them were on 4th down and 10. Of course, they converted both fake punts.

Whenever I run a fake punt, the computer comes out in a play that is going to stop it... they already know I'm going to fake it. It could be 4th and 37 on my own 5 yard line and they would come out in a fake punt defense. It's absolutely nauseating.

Of course on the contrary... they never come out in a fake punt defense when I run a normal punt play. Never.

Also on the contrary. If you come out in fake punt defense... the computer will then audible to a normal punt.

I'm so tired of the computer knowing what I'm running. They also do this on offense and defense but it is less obvious.

I haven't found that to be the case. The computer's only been successful with one fake punt against me, and I've used fake punt defenses to break up quite a few fake punts. I haven't tried a fake myself yet, but EA's always had that cheap computer defense when it came to that.

  1. The cpu knows what play you're running. The devs have come out and said as much.
  2. I don't think that I've ever had the cpu audible out of a fake punt.
  3. Because I know that the cpu knows what play I'm running, I don't think that I've run a fake anything (against the cpu) since the game was on PS2.
