NCAA Coaches: Bribing Players

It is pretty ridiculous that the public knows that the LSU head coach is on tape talking about bribing one of his many 5-star recruits to come and play at LSU, and yet the fans are just expected to sit back and be satisfied with letting already corrupt LSU be the judge of whether the player is ineligible. The NCAA system allows cheating to profit even when the smoking gun is out there that you know a particular player playing another game is wrong. This is why there needs to be an NCAA enforcement commissioner, a person who can review evidence, determine its authenticity, and issue sanctions within a matter of days (not weeks, months or years) against the rules violators while they are still at the school. Maybe LSU will suspend Smart, who knows, but the fact that they even have a choice now is wrong.

Some more guilty quotes from Wade in this column. Compares his offer to the NBA rookie minimum.

I do wonder who those other recruits he paid off that were as good as Smart were. I believe he did sign a guy at VCU who was around the top-50, maybe that is who he is talking about there. He had been at LSU a matter of 3 months when he was buying Smart's commitment.

If the NCAA doesn't give Will Wade and coaches like him that get caught red-handed a lifetime ban from NCAA coaching, they are worthless and complicit in allowing cheating.
Yeah if the NCAA doesn't do anything about this, Holtmann should get on the phone ASAP with World Wide Wes. Not doing so would only be handicapping himself in the recruiting game at that point.
