Just sayin': Apparently Duke's "thorough and objective investigation which was directed by individuals outside the athletics department.....We found no evidence to support any allegation" was a sham.....
So shouldn't Duke have to vacate all the wins during the 2018/2019 season of the games that Williamson played in?.....

I'm sure ESPN will be all over this shortly. I'll be even more shocked, if Coach K isn't fired, given a show cause and the Duke BB team hit with sanctions.

Federal appeals court upholds 2019 convictions of Christian Dawkins, Merl Code in men's basketball bribery case
The convictions of a sports business manager and an amateur basketball coach in a conspiracy to bribe top college coaches to get them to steer NBA-bound athletes to favored handlers were upheld Friday by an appeals court.
The ruling by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan affirmed the 2019 convictions of Christian Dawkins and youth basketball coach Merl Code on a single conspiracy count. Dawkins was also convicted of bribery. They were acquitted of some other charges.
The prosecution resulted from a criminal investigation that exposed how financial advisers and business managers paid tens of thousands of dollars to college coaches and athletes' families to steer highly regarded high school players to top colleges, sometimes with the help of apparel makers who signed sponsorship deals with schools.
During the trial, universities were portrayed by prosecutors as victims of greedy financial advisers and coaches while defense lawyers asserted that the schools were complicit in any corruption that occurred in 2016 and 2017.
Circuit Judge William J. Nardini, writing for a three-judge panel, said the judges rejected arguments that the law used to convict the men was unconstitutionally applied and that various rulings about evidence and other matters by the trial judge were erroneous.
"We are unpersuaded by these arguments," Nardini wrote, saying the judges did not agree with arguments that the federal law used to convict the men should be limited as it pertains to the universe of "agents" to be influenced or the business of the federally funded organizations involved.
The 2nd Circuit said Congress purposefully wrote the law broadly to preserve the integrity of organizations that receive federal dollars by outlawing bribery, and it is not the role of courts to interpret it in a restrictive manner.

Louisville's Problems Grow With New NCAA Allegations Following Chris Mack–Dino Gaudio Tiff
The University of Louisville on Friday released an updated NCAA Notice of Allegations stemming from its involvement in the 2017 federal investigation of corruption in college basketball, and it contains more problems for the school and its men’s program.
The case, which has been diverted to the NCAA’s Independent Accountability Review Process, now contains three new allegations. All of them are Level II, which is considered major. The most severe violations are Level I. The amended Notice of Allegations (NOA) now contains one Level I charge and six Level II.
And the NOA now names head coach Chris Mack as having committed a Level II violation for a lack of head-coach responsibility. Mack’s contract with Louisville contains language stating that he can be fired for cause if found to have committed a “serious violation” (which would be Level I or II).
The new charges arise from the audiotape made by Mack of former assistant coach Dino Gaudio threatening to expose NCAA violations if he is not paid until September 2022. Gaudio was informed in March that his contract was not being renewed, and his extortion attempt of Mack ensued from that meeting.

However, there may still be additional interviews to be done, which could alter the timeline for delivery of that NOA and its contents. The case already has been mired in discussion of whether football violations should be considered separately from the men’s basketball allegations.
Oklahoma State’s appeal of a postseason ban is another instance where closure is anticipated soon, sources say. Coach Mike Boynton recently told The Oklahoman that it is “unfathomable” to still be waiting for a resolution when the appeal hearing transpired during the 2020–21 basketball season. A ruling on the school’s argument to be penalized at a lesser level than the Level I allegation lodged against former assistant Lamont Evans also could foreshadow what happens in other cases. In a case that went through the traditional NCAA peer review process rather than the IARP, the Cowboys were banned from the 2020–21 postseason, but their appeal allowed the team to participate. If their appeal is overturned, it is presumed that the ban would be enforced for this upcoming season.
And Auburn has completed its NCAA Committee on Infractions hearing, sources say, with a ruling expected this calendar year. The school has not formally acknowledged receipt of a notice of allegations or divulged its contents but voluntarily withheld its men’s basketball program from postseason play in 2020–21—an unmistakable indication that the NOA contained serious charges. Coach Bruce Pearl, who received a three-year show cause penalty for violations when he was at Tennessee and is now on his second journey through the major infractions process, participated in the hearing, sources say.

Dick Vitale Doesn’t Think Kansas’ NCAA Title Will Be Vacated Amid FBI Investigation
Kansas’ national championship victory on Monday has come with a cloud of uncertainty, as many people wonder if this title will stick. The NCAA is expected to hand down a punishment to Bill Self and the Jayhawks soon for the program’s role in the FBI investigation.
Well, Dick Vitale says not to worry. The ESPN college basketball analyst said to not expect this title to be vacated as part of the punishment.

Kansas received a Notice of Allegations in September 2019, with the NCAA charging the school with lack of institutional control, five Level 1 violations and asking for a head coaching change from Bill Self. The NCAA also said that Kansas recruit T.J. Gassnola and Self openly discussed Adidas helping Kansas recruit players in texts.
The head coach and the Jayhawks have vehemently denied the claims. The original investigation included multiple men’s basketball program.
Among those cases that were closed, Oklahoma State was banned from the men’s NCAA tournament in 2022, former NC State head coach Mark Gottfried and assistant coach Orlando Early received separate show-cause orders, and Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl was suspended two games.
Most recently, LSU fired head coach Will Wade after the NCAA handed down a Notice of Allegations including five Level 1 violations. Arizona and Louisville also received Notices of Allegations in the past year.

The IARP did not issue any postseason bans or significant penalties in the cases it adjudicated for LSU, Louisville, Arizona and NC State, all schools that were tied to the FBI's investigation.
Oklahoma State chose to work with the NCAA over the IARP in its case.
