Well for now, PC still rules all of em. Cept for game selection of course. I played splinter cell: chaos theory on xbox. It is good, graphics are nice, etc. But then I went and picked it up on PC. No comparison, it is beautiful, control is so much better with a mouse than a frickin analog stick, etc.

Too bad they don't release NCAA for the computer. That would be so much easier to download names.

As for computer games, there are tons of titles on PC that rock compared to consoles. Check out Rome: Total War on PC and you will realize why PC games rock. No way an XBox or PS2 could ever handle this game. Wars between over 1000 soldiers on either side, and you can zoom in to each man fighting another guy. Any game put on computer is always better than any console. Although I hear the PS3 will have some pretty sweet specs that will rival PC's (well, for like a year or so).

To an earlier post, money is the main thing. Honestly buy both (if you have the money to drop on a top of the line computer why not get a $150 console for the few games you can't get?), but if you can't afford it stick to consoles. They are still pretty tight.

As for the XBox vs. PS2 fight, XBox has better specs but not the games. Through the grapevine I actually hear that the PS3 will beat the XBox2 (although the name won't be XBox 2) on the specs front. Microsoft is actually looking to make the next XBox a multimedia box that will be a DVR and other things. They need to try other things since they are bleeding cash from the last one. PS2, despite having worse specs, handed Microsoft their ass. As for Nintendo, they will go the way of Atari. Stuck to an old format to long. Hey, Nintendo, how about a quickly released ET game? I hear there is still some land in the desert where you can bury the unsold games. Too bad, Nintendo did have some cool games but not enough to carry the whole system. I see them making Mario, Zelda, etc. games for other consoles in the future and saying buh bye to the console market.

NCAA Football 2006: Be a Legend
EA's big man on campus kicks off the new season with a Race for the Heisman.
by Aaron Boulding

April 13, 2005 - The struggle to differentiate EA's NCAA Football series from the wildly successful Madden NFL franchise made a huge leap with last year's NCAA Football 2005 thanks to the stadium pulse feature, matchup stick and enhanced dynasty mode. So after a breakthrough year like that, the pressure is clearly on the developers at EA Tiburon to come up with another new bag of tricks to keep the college game on its own unique path of football.

<!--start image table --><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="460"><tbody><tr><td align="center" width="460">

</td></tr></tbody></table><!--end image table -->

The past couple of years for each franchise have been interesting because the two games have introduced new features that would be exclusive to one or the other but that fans would want to see in both titles. But that's exactly what the developers don't want to do. The whole point is to bring out those special elements of the college game that will make NCAA its own unique experience even with the popular Madden game engine doing much of the heavy lifting. For the 2006 edition, NCAA football is lead by the all new Race for the Heisman mode, a feature that could make this college football game, the most collegiate yet.

Become a Legend

To make sure gamers get to know the new Race for the Heisman Mode, as soon as you fire up NCAA 2006, you'll be dropped into an auto-generated scenario that casts you in the role of an elite high school football player. You're at a special camp for blue chip prospects and all you have to do is tell them what position you want to play before you're thrown into a series of drills. You run through the position-specific drills and have to wow the coaches in attendance with your ability. Are you the next Ron Powlus or the next Chris Leak? If you're good enough, schools like Oklahoma and USC will offer you a scholarship. Stink it up and you could be toting the rock for small conference doormats like San Jose State. Or, you can just walk on to any of the Division 1A teams in the game and make your presence felt.

You should be well on your way to becoming a legend.

As a standalone mode, Race for the Heisman feels a lot like Dynasty mode, except with a major twist: you're a player not the coach. The biggest difference is the Dorm Room, which will be your main interface for the mode and the screen where you can check up on everything going on in your player's world. You can check the trophy trunk for all of the awards he's won and keep an eye on the picture of his beloved girlfriend. It's a safe bet that the more hardware he collects, the better the chances his girlfriend will change too. You're more or less on a four year mission to win a Heisman even though you can come out early and head to the NFL (and Madden NFL 2006). It'll take plenty of covers of Sports Illustrated for it to happen but when you get invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony, you won't know the outcome until you get there. The cinematic around the trophy presentation will unveil the winner and build up all of the drama that happens every year at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City.

NCAA Football 2006 also features some other great additions to the series…only thing is, we can't reveal anything else at this time.

Check back to IGN Sports in the coming weeks as EA rips off the gags from our mouths one feature at a time.

GOD.... FLIPPIN... SONOFA...

The game DOESNT NEED MORE FREAKIN MODES! How about FIXING GLITCHES and FIXING GAMEPLAY and BETTER GRAPHICS and NAMES ON PLAYERS!!

We don't need this "Heisman Mode" bullshit! We need a BETTER GAME... Jesus! How about some physics changes? Huh? Some ball-bouncing fixes? Some fumble recovery awareness? A tighter running game? A less frustrating passing game? Better hit recognition? Better tackle-breaking? Better, more accurate player attributes (that let players like cedric benson break a DBs hip tackle)?

God DAMMIT. This Heisman bullshit is that LAST thing ANYONE needs. JESUS CHRIST.

AND Speaking from a programmers point of view: This is a 1 billion dollar industry. I KNOW you can pay a team of programmers to make players NOT pass through eachother. JESUS.

You have to understand that clipping is a lot more difficult to deal with than you think. Overall there are probably a lot of good things you would lose that they decided weren't worth losing in order to avoid a few times where bodies pass thru each other.

Hopefully the fact that Madden and ESPN's crew will be working together will help remedy the lack of physics in the NCAA game. In ESPN the blocking and momentum makes much more sense. You can't stand still then suddenly bowl over 6 players.

I think this sounds like a cool feature. There are issues that need to be addressed no doubt... but you have to sell new copies of the game if you're EA. You can't advertise... hey guys this game is really great, nothing really new about it but all of the annoying things are gone! Quick, go and buy it! That just won't be a good marketing element... peopel will enjoy the changes but it won't bring in revenue which is why this amazing game exists in the first place.

I feel your pain tho. I hope they make the coverage AI smarter, rather than just making them superman with catchup logic. And freshman WR's need to be capable of catching a 4 yard pass with no one on them (currently its nearly impossible).

Sounds very interesting with the first person mode of being a recruit. Of course I will go through my dynasties... but when you need a break it is nice to chance the mode like that.

Plus who says they haven't fixed the physics more? Those kind of changes are never mentioned in the promos. They announce what peaks interest more. Announcing a new mode or that they updated some glitches?

Before we get too angry about what isn't fixed, remember that this is just one of MANY enhancements that will be made if EA is holding true to form. Last year they added stadium pulse, matchup stick, revamped passing defense, player composure, discipline, transfers, more realistic inertia, etc. They are only releasing a little bit of info at a time in order to build suspense.
