I was a little underwhelmed by it...but maybe I'm just jaded from a rather subpar season. There were some good points: Reintroducing Holly to the show (and hinting at feelings remaining between her and Michael), the opening with Michael falling asleep after devouring a family-sized chicken potpie, Dwight being Dwight and his new friend Rolf, Dwight defending Angela and her reaction hinting at a possible reconciliation at some point, Toby and his corporate HR counterpart, Michael and Holly's skit revealing the Buffalo branch's closing, drunk Stanley. I think we're heading for a Charles-Jim showdown at some point next season. I'm not sure about the pregnancy "cliffhanger". All in all a decent episode, but not a great finale. I loathe the new receptionist chick, she doesn't fit in at all unless she's simply going to be foil for Andy. Still wondering what happened to Jan and her pregnancy...that storyline appears to have been completely dropped unless it's something they're planning on springing on us next season.
Here's what I want to see more of next season:
- David Wallace, really one of the underutilized and underappreciated characters on the show
- More Dwight-Jim interaction like the early seasons, though they seem to be going the opposite direction...
- More Holly
- More of the supporting characters (Stanley and Kevin in particular)
- A Charles-Jim showdown
- Resolution of the Jan pregnancy. If handled correctly, that could be gold.
- More Michael-Toby interaction and Michael-Ryan awkwardness.
- Get rid of the receptionist (one dimensional, cardboard character).
