NBA Finals - Celtics vs. Lakers

When did you become a Celtics fan?

Buckyle has not been much of a fan of the NBA but I can say that he is and always will be a Celtic fan.

Ever since Bird retired it has been hard to be a Celtic. Reggie Lewis and his death hurt, and the franchise could not get on track, so being a fan was not something you bragged or held you head up over.

I used to be a Celtic fan back in the days of Russell , and clear thru the Bird and Havlecik days and then some, But since I got soured on the NBA I only kinda sorta watch the playoffs.
I still like to see them do well but it ain't no big thang if you know what I mean.
So now I just root for whoever I put my Vbet On.
The next two games I need the Lakers to win so,......
GO LA!

Buckyle can spell nba?

So he's visible as a fan when they're good.

seems like a lot of people became Celtic fans this year

I've been a Celtics fan since the late 70's. I have 2 pictures from back then wearing sports gear. One I was wearing an Ohio State shirt with #7 on it, I'm assuming Corny Greene. The other was a Celtics t-shirt. I loved basketball during the Bird/Magic era. I grew up in Massachusetts and loved listening to games on the radio so I could hear Johnny Most doing the broadcast. I thought when we drafted Len Bias we were destined to win ring after ring only to have him die of a cocaine overdose. I was watching the game that Reggie Lewis collapsed during. It's been a long 20 years watching this team go from NBA Champions to perennial losers. Hopefully Red can light up one more victory cigar soon..

That's cool. I like people who stick with their teams through the shit years (I've been a Redskins fan my whole life, so I know how it is).

But, I was referring to people here in Columbus. There are suddenly a lot of people wearing Celtics apparel and cheering for Boston.

I never saw anyone wearing Gator stuff in Ohio until a couple a years ago. Last time I was in Connecticut at the casino I saw more New York Giant gear than I have ever seen there. Death, taxes, bandwagon fans and Tibor being a douchebag...life's guarantees.

I hardly see any Texas apparel any more...just a few seasons ago that's all you saw here in Hawaii aside for UH gear. Gator fans came out of the woodwork here after they beat us in the NC game, and now I don't see any. I do have to say, though, that I haven't seen as much LSU crap as I had expected. I see Laker shit all overt the place here, but that's mainly because of Hawaii relatively close proximity to LA, and to the locals credit here, there are more Oakland Raiders fans here than you can fathom despite the fact Oakland sucks.

the older people are easliy explained in columbus. they were awesome. for a long time. they had a star on their team who was a star for the hometown team, osu.

that being said anywhere you go you have people breaking their legs jumping on and off the bandwagons...

So far, the wins and losses have gone as I expected when I picked the Celtics in six (although a couple of them have been very close to going the other way). I thought the Lakers would win game five to send it back to Boston and the Celts would finish them in game six. I'm sticking with that prediction, tonight.
