NBA Finals - Celtics vs. Lakers

perkins has done little in this series...he has been in foul trouble and injured...i don't think him playing or not playing will matter...OC.....has LA turned on this laker team and what kind of crowd do you expect sunday?

Very much so, I guess the best way to put it is the city feels betrayed. It's not so much that they lost, it's how they lost. This is the most embarassing loss in finals history, and it has happened to a franchise that is one of the most successful.

A comment was made to day on espin radio that Kobe shouldn't have gotten the MVP and he's not even a top five player in the league, I thought that was pretty harsh. Odom has been ripped apart for the last week, hell, if you listened to the radio here today other than the Lakers flagship you would think we just finished in last place, not that we were predicted to go in 7th or 8th in the playoffs and meet a first round exit and instead made it to the finals.

As for Sunday, I expect less stars more fans, tickets went way down today, the 300 section was going for about 300 bucks a pop, that's the farthest back and highest point, today they are down to around 115 a seat, the 15K courtside tickets are down to around 7500 (still disgustingly overpriced) but it looks like less stars will be there to promote their movies. And I shit you not, the game thursday, ticket brokers were selling courtside seats for that thing at fifteen thousand dollars a piece.

While I appreciate the offer, a bet is a bet, and I need to hold up my end of it. THanks though, I'll wear this til the 27th :)

Oh no! Someone got emotional during a sporting event! :roll1:

Well, I am the one who posted that animated gif, and I will be honest, I don't really know how I feel about it.

First off, as I have always said about Sasha, I like his emotion, I love his energy. However, I also feel that a professional should be able to control his emotions. Especially if you are a bench player, this isn't Kobe Bryant, this isn't Derrick Fisher, this is bench player who no one can seem to pronounce his name. Also, even though the odds say this series is over, there's at least one more game to be played and emotions need to be controlled until then.

Sasha had a good year, and he contributed to the teams success, however, these types of clips will just haunt him, especially if the Lakers lose this series, which is more than likely going to happen.

In a perfect world, fans would be talking about Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce, not the referees.

The Finals Can't Shake Donaghy Mess

LOS ANGELES --Hopped in the car after witnessing the greatest comeback on record in the NBA Finals and what was the sports-talk radio host talking about? Tim Donaghy.
So far the most-discussed game to come out of these 2008 Finals is Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals. That's why the Celtics need to go on and finish this series on Sunday, to get the NBA off the stage and away from the big tomatoes thrown by Donaghy. Get people thinking about baseball or tennis or golf. Just get David Stern out of harm's way.
It's impossible for this series to shake the shadow of Donaghy and his damning allegations that officials tried to alter the outcome of a playoff game to add an extra game and boost the league's bankroll. If the Lakers do force a Game 6 with a victory Sunday aided by a few favorable calls it will only add to the conspiracy speculation.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers hasn't had a lot of time to reflect on the death of his father because it happened during the season unexpectedly.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Doc Rivers suddenly fell silent, choked by emotion.
One of the NBA's most loquacious coaches, he couldn't find the right words to describe the feeling tearing him apart.
On Friday, Rivers trembled as he thought about his late father, a former Chicago police lieutenant who taught him life lessons -- patience, consistency and hard work -- that the Celtics coach uses with his team.
Grady Rivers juggled his schedule so he could watch his son's games. He coached his kid's baseball team and proudly watched Doc become a college star, NBA player and a respected family man.
In November, Grady Rivers died after a brief illness.

Despite Celtics' 3-1 lead, Kobe says Finals 'far from over'

Associated Press

Updated: June 15, 2008, 2:47 AM ET

LOS ANGELES -- With the same purpose as one of his in-your-face jumpers, Kobe Bryant leaned into the microphone.
He promised more NBA Finals games to come.
"The series ain't over," he said. "It's far from over."
Faced with long odds, Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers returned to the practice floor Saturday for the first time since Game 4, when the Boston Celtics stormed back from a 24-point deficit to win and take a 3-1 lead in this reborn rivalry.
The Lakers have run out of time and tomorrows. It's either win Game 5 on Sunday or pack away the sneakers for summer.
No team has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals, and even if the Lakers can stave off elimination and win at Staples Center, they'll have to play Games 6 and 7 in Boston, where the Celtics are 12-1 this postseason. Since the league switched to the much-debated 2-3-2 format in 1985, no team has won the last two games on the road.

Dinged Perkins says 'strong possibility' he can play in Game 5

Associated Press

Updated: June 14, 2008, 9:13 PM ET

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins said there is a "strong possibility" he can play in Game 5 of the NBA finals, even though he didn't practice Saturday and appeared to be heavily favoring his strained left shoulder.

"It's the finals, man. You've got to suck it up and go all out," he said before practice at the Los Angeles Lakers training facility. "I feel like I can go [Sunday night]. The doctor feels the same way. There's a strong possibility I'm playing."
In the 30 minutes of practice open for reporters to watch, Perkins kept his left arm mostly immobile. He took some warmup shots, as did the rest of the team, but they were one-handed -- with his right arm -- with his left arm hanging at his side.
"It feels all right, mostly a little sore," Perkins said. "The doctors said I could do nothing in practice today. I'm going to give it some rest and give it a shot tomorrow. It's getting better every day."
