I completely disagree...baseball players are arguably the biggest prima donna jerks, football players have countless violent infractions on and off the field, and hockey has fights that are glorified on a nightly basis.

To single out the NBA is a mistake in my opinion.

I'll have to call bs here. Fighting is way down in the NHL, to the point that there are quite a few more games without fights than games that have fights. The goons are now dinosaurs, with only a handfull left in the league. The days of the Hansen Brothers and the Broad Street Bullies are over.

I will agree that baseball players seem to be the biggest prima donnas.

I think the NBA gets a bad rep because people think they are all Gangsta's.

the NBA is filled with so many wanna be Thugs and Gangsters which is why they get the publicity. I'm not saying that there aren't prima donnas in other sports, but to say that the NBA isn't the most visible is ridiculous.

There is another blanket statement...

I will give you guys like Artest, Jackson, Wallace....

But look at your superstars...LBJ, Wade, KG, Duncan, Dirk, Kobe, Shaq, Arenas, Nash, Amare, Howard, Yao, McGrady, Redd...

Some will list AI in the thug category, but IMO that is way off...

Considerig where alot of these guys come up from they arent going to be sweater wearing preppy boys playing basketball like Dook University...They are going to have the baggy pants, the sideways hats and slang talk...It is just their way of life, but to make a blanket statement and call them thugs because of that is off base IMO...

Personally I think the free usage of "thugs and gangsters" is ridiculous...

There is more to this topic than some people are willing to admit or see.

You mean the undercurrent of racism that is plainly evident throughout this thread. Shocking! :roll1:

If only those stupid basketball players wore shirts/pants and helmets and covered up their "blackness" like football players, we innocent people could watch them without recoiling in disgust. :roll1:

This might be the first and only time I ever agree with Tibor...

Oh shit, here we go. I knew this was going to happen. I'm surprised it took this long. If you criticize the NBA you must be a racist (which I absolutely am NOT). :shake:

Let's not lose focus here, guys. Just b/c other sports have prima donnas too doesn't make Thomas's ridiculous comments more acceptable.

This needs a bump at this point.

Deja Vu.......I leave the Pro Basketball forum to get a change of pace from the NBA vs All Other Sports argument and the thread is here too?? Aren't you guys getting bored of this subject yet?

Not really...it was noted that you agreed the first time. However, you still miss the entire point of the other statements.

You labeled one sport and continued to say it happens much more in that league. When you keep pushing the issue it starts to boil down...then perceptions are left open to interpretation. Numerous posts have stated that this is a problem in all sports...lack of class, fundamental play, sportsmanship, etc. However, seemingly, the NBA catches the brunt of this perception...yet, every sport has a dirty laundry list of similar instances and issues. Even college sports are seeing this problem...

Yet, you singled out the NBA and, along with others, have defended that assertion. Not one person in this thread has defended the kid's statements...however, many people are arguing about the NBA being singled out.

Grad posted exactally what I was going to say...

Just to add you say you see it more in the NBA, that is why we asked for proof, when everyone knows that things happen like this in all professional sports...
