Urban!!!!
Here is a great example of why I have a hard time watching/supporting professional basketball with any kind of regularity. If it weren't for LeBron and the way he not only plays the game, but the way that he carries himself and the maturity he shows for such a young guy I would probably not even pay any attention at all.

From ESPN's Insider:

Free Money
Feb 6 - Asked if he were excited about becoming the first Bull since Scottie Pippen in 1990 to participate in the event as part of All-Star weekend, Tyrus Thomas barely looked up from untying his shoes. "Not really," Thomas said. "I'm just going to go out there, get my check and call it a day."
"I'm just into the free money," he said. "That's it. I'll just do whatever when I get out there."
Thomas makes $3.26 million. The winner gets $35,000. The runner-up receives $22,500. Third and fourth place are worth $16,125. -- Chicago Tribune

Just an example Bob, I could make a whole list, but I am not going to waste my time or anyone else's.

Just sayin'.

I just don't see how the NBA is to blame for this. He's only been in the league for a half a year. Even if it was a veteran player like say...Tim Duncan...it's the players mind set. I'm sure David Stern hates that article as much as you or I.

because its 10 times more prevalent in the NBA than any other sport. yes its happening in most sports but the NBA is the worst hands down.

I completely disagree...baseball players are arguably the biggest prima donna jerks, football players have countless violent infractions on and off the field, and hockey has fights that are glorified on a nightly basis.

To single out the NBA is a mistake in my opinion.

i honestly believe that the fights play a role in the game...

the diff between hockey and any other fight in a sport (excluding boxing) is their is a strict regulation on it. they have roles that if violated result in suspension, ejectiong, penalties etc. on top of that you have an unwrtten code...

Uh.... wrong. It just seems that way because of the how blown out of proportion the media and the public makes it and because athletes in the NBA are more recognizable, and thus more newsworthy.
