Game Thread Navy 27, at tOSU 31 (Sep 5th, ESPN)

1st Quarter OSU v. ILL
Ohio State at 14:52 Aaron Pettrey kickoff for 70 yards for a touchback.00

First time tOSU kicked off last year was Illinois. The offense will want to get on the field first and get in rhythm against the Middies. I like the shotgun, 3 wide sets with the TE and RB, I think it will translate well with this offense. I also liked seeing the roll out right pass plays and PA bootleg. The run game should be there for Ohio State, I like the run block ability of this line.

I feel the front 7 for tOSU can make the stops and force the third and long that will limit Navy. The cornerbacks won't be tested with the intermediate stuff, and will do well to stop the run. Russell at safety should be able to cover deep. After seeing Rocco's TD against the D, the defense will have worked on their contain. Rocco cut that back and broke a few tackles on that run, the defense should adjust to that. The final score will probably be closer than the match-ups and flow were, but nonetheless the season is back.

The BP Game preview has been posted. It has some general info, and a closer look at Navy's Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

Navy.Preview

The Additional Info section contains Navy recruiting infomation, some statistical analysis in 'Behind the Numbers', a very good section on Navy traditions, and a 'Lighter Side' that switches things up in order to not disrespect this week's opponent.

Navy won't be easy for No. 6 Buckeyes Midshipmen are used to crowds of 100,000. Offense could be tricky

COLUMBUS: This much is certain when it comes to No. 6 Ohio State's recent series of opening-game opponents: Navy is no Youngstown State.
While the Penguins were almost grateful to open the season at Ohio Stadium the past two seasons, the Buckeyes recognize that Navy won't be nearly so star-struck.
The Buckeyes opened with 38-6 and 43-0 routs of Youngstown State, the only Football Championship Subdivision team Ohio State has ever played.
Navy is at another level.
''We've got a great Navy team coming in week one,'' offensive guard Bryant Browning said. ''First off, those guys have won a lot of games. They go to bowl games, and they win. We're usually facing, I guess you could say, a lesser opponent sometimes ? you could say it that way. But Navy is not one of those teams. They're going to come in here looking for a big upset.''
Ohio State's contest against Navy on Saturday ? the first regular-season meeting between the teams since 1931 ? is not expected to be so lopsided as recent debuts for the Buckeyes.
''Navy's no pushover,'' quarterback Terrelle Pryor said. ''And you know they're going to be tough. They serve our country. You also got to appreciate that, too, because they serve our nation and protect us.''
There also are a couple of other reasons why the game could be a problem for the Buckeyes.

I originally said 31-17 but I am not sure we will put up that many points. We have been far from stellar in our openings the past couple of years vs equal or lesser compretition.... Plus I have not seen anything to make me believe our O-Line is going to be better then it was last year....

20-14 Go Bucks!
