I just don't understand how you can show that there is prejudice involved here. What PG is as prolific of a passer as Nash? It's not like this kid is some scrub that the media idolizes b/c he bucks the 'black NBA' trend. People hung all over Magic's jock too, and he would beat Nash every time in a head to head MVP race.

No prejudice involved at all actually. Just favoritism for Nash as the white savior. Prejudice supposes that they didn't vote for the others because they were black. Wrong. They voted FOR Nash because he was white. It was the tiebreaker, so to speak, in a close race.

Those that cover the NBA actually love NBA, and wish it wasn't lagging behind NASCAR as far as popularity goes. They know, as well as I do, that the NBA hurts because most of its stars are young, black, rich, and some (mostly Blazers) have well-documented behavioral problems. Somehow, NASCAR is more relatable. It's like Larry Bird said... The NBA needs a white superstar, and the media wants to make sure that happens.

It's not as if I think Nash is chopped liver. He's just not the MVP in a stacked year. I'd put it at 1. Kobe 2. Lebron 3. Chauncey 4. Dirk 5. Nash 6. Brand 7. Parker - and then no one else is in the conversation.


billups is not a true pg like nash is

I suppose you think Iverson or starbury as a true pgs to

Considering Parker averages 5.8 assists a game, and Billups averages 8.6, I hesitate to waste anymore time responding to your argument. But in case you didn't know, Billups' A/T ration is 4.1, and Nash's is 2.9. But that's not an important stat for point-guard determination purposes or for MVP purposes, so I can't figure why I should bring that up.

Leandro Barbosa shoots 44% from behind the arc.
Raja Bell shoots 44% from behind the arc.
Tim Thomas shoots 41% from behind the arc.
Eddie House shoots 39% from behind the arc.
James Jones shoots 39% from behind the arc.

All those players play for the Suns.

Nash must be shooting those shots for them...its not like he has any help or anything right...

Oh yeah...he also plays with freaking Shawn Marion, an all-star.

He gets no help whatsoever, what a shitty supporting class that the media brings up. :roll1:

If you could pick a player to build a franchise around, would it be:

A. Steve Nash

B. Lebron James

C. Kobe Bryant

Not many would pick Nash. I showed those stats to show how many great shooters he plays with. Lebron constantly creates open shots for the Cavs, but our best shooter is Damon freaking Jones...

I just can't believe that Nash won AGAIN! :smash: He didn't deserve it last year and now he joins elite company of winning back to back MVPs??? Really what has Nash done that was different than Jason Kidd or John Stockton did? Those two never sniffed the awards. Heck, if you really want to get down to it Marion could be considered more valuable to the Suns than Nash.

But I am going to hold out hope that these reports are wrong. But one thing that will be interesting is how close the vote is and who has the most first place votes. I would not be surprised if Nash had the 3rd most 1st place votes but the most 2nd place votes.

LeBron James. No question. But again, that is not a reasonable criterion for the Most Valuable Player award. The award does not go to the most complete player, or the one with the most upside, or the one with the biggest unit. The award is supposed to go to the player who represents the most value to his team. I agree that it should be a close race between those three guys, and I wouldn't argue any one of them receiving the award--each of their respective teams would be lost without them. However, if a tie breaker exists, it should probably be (in my opinion) winning percentage, and Nash obviously gets the nod.

I actually think the shooting percentage argument helps Steve Nash. I'm not even going to argue that he's not the best player in the league at making those around him better. I think Lebron is getting closer, but I'll give Nash that category. This, alone, gets him in the top 10 in MVP voting.

There are other categories where Nash falls flat. One of them is obviously defense. The other major category is the ability to take over a game down the stretch. Again, I have to point out the hypocrisy over some of the criticism Lebron receives. Apparently, he's lazy on defense and can't make the game-winning shot. Uhhh.... where's the criticism for Nash here? There are easily 20+ point guards in the league that play better defense, and 20+ players in the league that are better at taking over a game than Steve Nash.

Uh, no. The idea that Nash is the most valuable player is correct in that the Suns don't give a damn about defense and Nash epitomizes that perfectly. So, I guess he should be MVP. But he'll also lose the last game of his season every year without question.

If the definition of the award is vrbryant's, then obviously it goes to Lebron. Because if Lebron was traded this off-season, the entire franchise would implode and they would be lucky to get 6000 for every home game. That's an MVP. Nobody in Phoenix would give a damn if Nash left.

If Nash is so valuable, why did Dallas get better when his sorry D ass left? :roll1:

if you're voting for someone b/c he is white, you are also not voting for others b/c they are black.

AFC: Every offensive skill player (except QB) was black. 14/17 defensive selections were black.

The behavior and marketing of the NBA is what ruins the league.
