if you're voting for someone b/c he is white, you are also not voting for others b/c they are black.

This is semantics. I'm not arguing that they have a problem with the black players. In fact, I can assure most writers enjoy watching Lebron or Kobe play more than Steve Nash. They just want there to be another great white player, so the fans will come back - unfortunately they found the wrong player, because he's a poor man's John Stockton.

NFL pro bowl roster:
AFC: Every offensive skill player (except QB) was black. 14/17 defensive selections were black.

The behavior and marketing of the NBA is what ruins the league.

This falls under the "football is the best sport to watch" category. People seem to get over it easier for some reason. My theory? The players wear helmets and big jerseys, so you can't see their cornrows or tatoos. Plus, it's not as if the league is devoid of white superstars - especially at the position most fans consider to be the most important, quarterback.

The behavior of NBA players is overblown and just a poor excuse that fans use not to watch it. I mean, if you don't like the brand of basketball, that's one thing. I don't see fans running away from the NFL just because TO and Chad Johnson are a couple of asses. The Jamaal Lewis, Ricky Williams drug issues didn't get the league a thug reputation. Heck, a Super Bowl MVP, Ray Lewis, has been involved in a murder investigation. Again, it falls under the "football is the best sport to watch" category. The NFL gets a free pass from fans.

On the other hand, NASCAR isn't even a sport, and it is far more popular than the NBA right now. No one can credibly argue to me that NASCAR isn't, in general, pretty boring for about 4/5 of the race.

Yeah, it's a joke that he won it twice really. Especially this year, where I think Kobe, LeBron, and Dwayne Wade are all more deserving.

Those guys may have deserved it more but you gotta look at it this way...the Suns didnt have Amare the whole season, they lost Joe Johson, lost Jim Jackson off the bench, everyone through the team was doomed. Nash gets the team to still win 54 games, and he was obviously the leader.

I think Steve Nash and Shawnie Davis should be Sports Illustrated "Co-Sportsmen Of The Year." I mean, how cool would that be for racially stereotyping an athlete? You'd have a white boy on the cover who would totally humiliate a black man from the bad streets of Chicago in basketball. You'd also have a black man from the bad streets of Chicago that would humiliate a White-Canadian in speed skating.

If the definition of the award is vrbryant's, then obviously it goes to Lebron. Because if Lebron was traded this off-season, the entire franchise would implode and they would be lucky to get 6000 for every home game. That's an MVP. Nobody in Phoenix would give a damn if Nash left.

If you look, I said that LeBron is entirely deserving of the award. Kobe as well. All I said was that I didn't find it ridiculous in the slightest that Nash beat the field. At this point, though, yeah--I submit to the logic and wisdom of jo4h's most recent post.

Nash didnt look like an MVP last night. Nash couldn't bring the Suns together to pull off the win. Kobe showed up Nash last night IMO. Kobe controlled the pace the of the game, not Nash. It was also obvious the Lakers had set out to get revenge from game 1.

Well one game doesnt really make an mvp. If you want to talk about that look no farther than LBJ's first playoff game when he had a triple double.
