NASCAR (Official Thread)

unless I missed it, that was talking about all the regular (oval type) tracks...I'm just talking strictly road course, they don't carry enough speed at those tracks that should make it unsafe

the way it's written, it's meant for all Nascar tracks.

Even though last Saturday's NASCAR crash was a terrible event, it was also a showcase for what's right with human kind. Fan Becket McGinn was hit in the chest with a tire and nearly killed. Two anonymous fans saved his life. He wants to know who they are.

Becket was sitting in the grandstand just off the trioval when the accident occurred. He was the man that was hit with the tire that went into the stands.

Instead of sitting still, a couple of fans around McGinn came to his aid. One helped by taking off his shirt to stop his massive bleeding. They also waited with him until he taken off site by emergency services.

McGinn is still recuperating in the hospital along with his younger brother, but has been searching for the people for the last week.

that vid that went viral that was taken from the stands you see this gentlemen take off his shirt immediately, this is why

In that Penske track event.. here's the story Jeff Gordon told

He was participating in TWO events the same day..
Race 1 went over and he had a flight to catch (private jet).. so he jumps in his rental car to get to the airport... almost there.. he gets pulled over by State Highway Patrol...

Gordon's feeling pretty smug... Statie asks for license, etc... and asks where he's going... gives him his license, tells him he just won Race 1 and on his way to Race 2.. knowing that should do it... after a short bit says "do you know who I am?" .. Statie says "yep and don't care..." and while he hands Gordon the ticket says very smugly in his best southern drawl "I'm a Dale Earnhardt fan"

but I still wanna know why NASCAR can't use rain tires on road courses if it's raining! lol
THE ANSWER

rain tires were created by specific request of NASCAR
rain tires are provided and onhand for EVERY NASCAR event

If it's raining, fans won't be there...
so NASCAR elects to move the race day vs using rain slicks
and thus never uses the rain slicks (by their choice.. as Mike 80 alluded)... but they are onhand every race

If they've already sold the tickets then why do they care?

It's not like they get extra fans buying tickets on a Monday
Ticket is often less than half the revenue intake..
buy a number of brewskies, nachos, couple dogs + a T-shirt and parking
and toss that into the coffers

PS THE ANSWER came straight from THE source on planet earth when it comes to NASCAR and tires... or any race event and tires still breathing
and BTW this person is and has always been a HUGE Buckeye fan.. I tossed in the addl revenue comment... cuz I've been to a race or two

I'm not dismissing it, was just posing a question

Kalitta or Parker? Englishtown is the most dangerous track on the NHRA schedule. Should have been shut down after Scotty died.
