Never Forget 31-0
I haven't talked about the situation on BP, but I feel like now is a good time to tell everyone that last night my prayers were answered at tOSU medical center...my faith was restored.
My mother, who is just 50 years old was diagnosed in December with liver problems due to contracting Hep C during a blood transfusion in the 80's. The past 7-8 months have been a roller coaster of emotions. My mother in and out of the hospital, her condition continuing to worsen with each passing day. We were told in December that she may be a candidate down the road for a transplant and the damage from the virus was significant. During the following six months, she saw several doctors and took countless tests to see if she could be placed on the transplant list.
On June 4, my mother was flown by life flight to tOSU medical center because she was having trouble breathing due to fluid from her stomach going into her right lung. She was placed in ICU and for the past month she has been in ICU, stepdown and then this past Friday, back to ICU because her breathing was worse. I was there on Friday when they took her back to ICU and I was officially told she was on the transplant list and that she was at the top of the list for her blood type but that she was critical and time was a factor.
Saturday morning, my wife and I drove down to tOSU and after visiting with my Mother who was unable to speak due to the breathing machine that was assisting her. 5 minutes into the visit and I was told that they may have a possible liver for my mother. After just 1 day on the list! Within a half hour, confirmation was made that they did have a match, late yesterday evening she had liver transplant surgery and sometime around 2:00 am today was told it was successful and she was doing fine. She has another chance at life and my prayers were answered.
The reason I am sharing this story is for anyone out there who is in a similar situation, please do not give up hope. I prayed everyday. My prayers were answered.
