I'm not sure if this will work for you, but try going to C:\Documents and Settings\**username**\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Perhaps a new profile was created. Open those folders and look for bookmarks.html, or look under .\bookmarkbackups\ ...mine has several backup copies.

Under File, go to Import

The explorer window will come up and it usually defaults to the My Docs or Desktop.

Navigate to the following path:

C:\Documents and Settings\%User Name%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\%profile name%\bookmarkbackups

I don't know how your setup is, but mine is set up to keep a week's worth of backups.
