Dude, OSU won. Get over it. Oh, by the way, nice showing in the Rose Bowl. Way to do the Big Ten proud. Carr, Henne, and Hart are my heros. :slappy::slappy:

That was unnecessary. He's been nothing but respectful since joining our board. No reason to flame a quality poster who happens to root for another team.

I say Michigan. The thought of losing to them, missing out on the NC game, and then having to watch them play in it? A bit more than I could handle. Even if we lose Monday, at least Michigan didn't win anything either. If I can't have it, I don't want them to have it, either. Yes, I AM that childish. :tongue2:

Over a hundred years of history compounded by pain and suffering of lost opportunities over the years, not to mention the traditions leading upto the game including but not limited to senior tackle, blood drive and mirror lake dive tell me that beating scUM is more important. Sure, any year we survive the regular season undefeated, the bowl game is important but we would never be in this position if we didn't beat scUM.

Beating scUM personifies the existential existence of what Ohio State is. Without the rivalry, Ohio State or scUM would not be what we are right now. Due to the sheer power the rivalry brings to the school, and to college football in general, beating scUM is more important. Any day, any time.

Beating Scum will always be our stepping stone to a National Championship if we are undefeated. During the Coopers years that really took its toll because Ohio State came so close. The 2002 season was magical, which none of us will ever forget. All we wanted to do is hang in there with Miami and we came out winning the Crystal Ball to the surprise of many of us. Now with Tressel at the helm we know Michigan is Nervous every November to play Ohio State regardless wether its in the Shoe or the Pig house.

Losing 9 of our defensive starters for the 2006 season was huge and yet we survived it with great offensive displays, giving our young defensive people time to grow to maturation, right up the the Michigan game. And yet after the 42-39 victory, we as OHio State fans were thinking : "Well who are we going to play - Southern Cal or Michigan ? I'll bet the 85 per-cent of us never even thought of "Florida" I sure did'nt. And now here we are having to play this team because USC could not hold there own against UCLA.

51 days to wait for a title game takes the edge off. To me the Florida game will be great to watch but i have to say that Florida backed into this game and it would be great if we could dominate thru the whole game.

Beating UM, no qusetion.

Losing to UM means they're in the title game and the reborn UM thanks to English has come true. Beat them again, and only so much has changed.

Beating UM is far more pivotal to future success. Recruits like Ginn, Wells, Saine & Clifford liked UM growing up, yet the on-field disparity helped way them our way. UM got SHUT OUT of ohio this year.

I want tOSU to beat Florida.

I need tOSU to beat Michigan.

I think these 2 comments sum it up for me. Beating (and, almost just as important, not losing to) Michigan is what gets us to NC games, what keeps us in the national spotlight, what inspires many (if not all) of our succesful recruits.
We need to be them... winning a mythical NC is just icing on the cake.

I see the rationale that is trying to be established here; Beat Michigan or we don't have a shot at Florida etc. BUT Michigan almost got in without beating us, right? So, I take this question as a "here and now" type of thing. We already beat Michigan so RIGHT NOW FLORIDA is MORE important. We didn't come here to LOSE to Florida.

So before anyone says again, "if we don't beat Michigan we don't have a shot at the NC and playing Florida" (I know this) I'm just saying that a loss right now would be a MAJOR letdown to a what would have been a terrific and once again UNDEFEATED season. My eyes are on the task at hand and that means my vote is with beating FLORIDA as being more important. HERE AND NOW!

I have to admit, I'm not as excited this year as I was in 2002. I don't know why. Maybe it's because we're the prohibitive favorites, have the Heisman winner at QB, and I've become spoiled by JT. I expect to win, but I'm also not as nervous as I was in 2002 going into that match-up with the mighty Miami Hurricanes, and the national title drought standing at 34 years and counting. Heck, I'm not even as antsy as I was anticipating the 2005 showdown with Texas. Maybe it's just the 51 day layoff, the lack of Gators on this board, or the diversion of the men's roundball team, but I feel like I'm waiting for the Spring Game and not the National Title game.

I know a lot of people will wind up devastated, but it's probably worth pointing out that Tressel did the unfathomable and lost two national title games while at YSU.

Time to play the What If? game. A common sentiment that I have heard and read over the years from Buckeyes fans is that (and this was more often expressed in reference to the disappointments under Cooper) they would rather see the team beat Michigan than win the national title. So there's the question.

Are you prepared for an OSU loss?

Was beating Michigan enough to claim the season a success, or does the team have to put the exclamation point on it and dispatch the Gators?

I voted for Florida ONLY because that is the game in front of the Buckeyes.

I'm one of those people who see the game at hand instead of the game down the road/the game 50 something days ago......

Beating Michigan was THE most important game for 364 days this past season. On Monday, the most important game will be against Florida. Then for the next 350 something days, it reverts back to the Michigan game.
