How can we contact ESPN?
Trev has been very critical of OSU for several years now. I remember when he thought Iowa was better than OSU the year they did not play each other. In the end, Iowa lost its bowl game. OSU as we all know, did not.:) However, this most recent episode was the last straw for me. Trev, the ex-Nebraska player, and May calling for Tressel's and Andy's heads? Give me a break, like Nebraska players never took money from boosters.
Does anyone know how to contact ESPN directly or by email so we can express our disgust? I think every person who is able should do this. Lets put some pressure on ESPN. They are suppose to be a news organization and need to follow journalistic ethics. In otherwords, stick to the facts and don't jump to concussions.
ESPN is turning into another main stream media outlet like CBS News (Dan Rather) which allows personal biased opinions to influence the news. We all know what is happening to the traditional major news outlets. There is a reason why Fox News ratings beats all other main stream news outlets combined. Too bad ESPN does not have any competition, could do them some good.
I am just amazed how ESPN is questioning the creditability of Andy, Tressel, and OSU. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't it Maurice who made false statements on an official police report? He is lucky to have never served jail time for this criminal violation.
Now don't get me wrong, rogue boosters are a big problem for OSU and thats the case for most major football & basketball universities. Personally, I would like to see stiffer punishments in order to more effectively deter student athletes from accepting money or gifts. I prefer Smith as our starting QB over Zwick (for as highly recruited as he was, sure does not posses great mechanics and is not as good a leader as Smith is on the field) but that is another topic. With this in mind, I actually think Smith should be suspended for a total of 3 games. I also would like to see boosters severely punished, for they are in a position in society which allows them to easily manipulate the young minds of student athletes that are just being exposed to the adult world. Boosters caught doing these kind of acts should permanently lose their season tickets, and they should never be allowed in the stadium or on campus again period.
Now lets put this in perspective, there is a huge difference between rogue boosters paying athletes vs. a coaching staff/ college institution promoting, assisting, or coordinating these types of activities. This is where May and Trev screwed up. Most major campuses have these rogue boosters but due to OSU's recent increase in popularity on a national scale, OSU is getting a lot of attention in regards to these activities. However, to imply OSU was aiding, promoting, or just ignoring these boosters is just simply irresponsible on Trev's and May's part.
In the end, I'm hoping some good comes out of this. Maybe athletes will become more aware that there will be serious consequences if one takes gifts or money. Secondly, maybe more individuals will come forward to point out these rogue boosters who can do nothing but hurt universities.
Sorry for the long post but I am seriously pissed off. BTW, this is my very 1st post on this or any college football forum. (Did I say how pissed off I was?)
