Geiger the root cause?

I suspect deep down that Andy is not a very popular fellow in some circles. I'll give some examples:

1. Cooper hated him. (Man is he at home with an "I told you so" shit-eatin' grin or what!?)
2. O'Brien is a turd....but he is now critical of Geiger.
3. Some former players talk about being hung out to dry.....namely the idiot I shall refer to as "The Youngstown Virus".
4. The press obviously is out to expose SOMETHING that discredits or makes not just the program but specifically Big Andy look bad. Has Andy been making enemies?
5. Tressel seems to be on the fringes of the criticism.....most of it is directed at the University....and Geiger. (My perception).
6. This is out there.....but what about Conley and Spencer leaving suddenly? Conley is now a critic on Bucknuts?

I think Andy may be a bridge burner.....I am afraid that if the digging continues...something WILL be found. I think you could at any major program. But we are the focus now.

I pray that I'm wrong.

Go Bucks!

I don't know how I feel about the next Gameday at tOSU. On one hand I want our rowdies to send the message loud and clear to ESPN. I might even travel to the game to participate. On the other hand, it would be easy to spin it into a poor visage of the university itself.

Unequal Treatment By ESPN

ESPN has an update on an Arizona State player take took improper benifits (which involved a car and money) in violation of NCAA rules and was suspended. It was in the 3rd paragraph of an obscure article on their website:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1956398

If it was a Troy Smith update; OSU and Troy would be the lead story with photos and the main topic on every one of their Sports news/discussion shows for the next 3 days.

imo, ESPN's treatment of the Smith and Dukes situations have been pretty light. Certainly, it has been nothing like the MoC screw ESPN was humping. It is only because of this board that I'm even aware of the Dukes thing. Of course, I've been up in a cabin with no ESPN for 3 days, so perhaps my perspective isn't a good one.

Besides, do you really want to be relegated to the level of exposure ASU gets?

The "Experts" from ESPN vs. Buckeye Planet posters

Check this out. As many of you already know, several of us posters are involved in a friendly bowl pool for vCash. We set it up over on fantasy bowl pickem hosted by ESPiN (not my choice, but it works well). They have a section where you can check the "ESPN talent's" picks and see where you stand in comparison. We have 41 Buckeye Planet posters who submitted picks. ESPN had 20 of their experts submit their picks. ESPN's TOP guy so far would be sitting at #20 in Buckeye Planet's pool. And they actually get paid for this shit :roll1:

Is anybody watching College Gameday?

Basically, they just ran a feature that showed the troubled life of Utah's senior running back. 2 DUI's, a prison term, and how great it was that Urban Meyer and his hot wife Shelley invited him in and treated him like family instead of booting him. They took him to family functions and baseball games. The kid talked about what great people they are. Urban says it would have been easy to kick him off the team but this college football thing is about life and second chances.
THEN, goddamn Herbstreit gets on the mic and tells the folks in Gainesville they should be extremely happy to be getting this kind of coach and family at UF. Isn't this the same guy and network that criticized JT during the Alamo for not "sending a clear message about discipline". Didn't Herbie say that JT had also expressed the feeling that booting players was the easy way out? Didn't Herbie say that he thought players were taking advantage of JT's kindness and fatherly approach.
I love Herbie.... .but when is this hypocrisy going to end? Don't they check to see whether or not they are reversing themselves?

In the immortal words of ESPN: "Who's in charge in Bristol?"

Major difference in perception/spin/story:

Utah is the little guy program that beat the odds...

tOSU is the big, bad football factory that uses any means to win...

Nobody outside of Columbus cares are the "feel good" stories concerning the Buckeyes or Jim Tressel...its much more profitable to spin a fall from glory tale for the big guys

It sucks but that is the reality of being a major program

He's awful. He's so juiced watching his former team.

But he's always pretty bad.

And the pair of Craig James and Aaron Taylor almost make you want to see Trev and Mark.

Almost. :!

Terry proudly carries on the Bowden name, the reason he got fired from auburn is classic. There must be something about college football coaches in the state of alabama (Bowden and Price). They follow the Bill Clinton code of ethics.

I also found it funny that their start CB is nicknamed 'Cash' after the Stan McClover story, it is very fitting.
