Based on this extremely limited knowledge of the recruitment, it seems like he might not be a fit for the competitive grind mentality that Ohio State looks for… not to jump too far to conclusions, but it reminds me of Jackson Carman and Clemson—and not just because the names are similar. :lol:

Local kid in the original post means ShowMeBuck lives in Missouri so this recruit is local to him, not at all a Jackson Carman type local to Ohio State.

My point was that if a desire to go to a warm school is a consideration, that doesn’t bode well for Ohio State’s chances for multiple reasons—because Columbus is not warm and it is indicative of an attitude that isn’t compatible with what Ohio State emphasizes to recruits. That was true for Jackson Carman, who I’m aware was from Ohio, and that is true in this recruitment, which I am aware originates in Missouri, both because I’m familiar with the show me state and it says the home state in the original post and the recruiting profiles.

Through the process can he realign his priorities? Absolutely, but it’s clearly not a good omen early if that is, in fact, what he’s prioritizing.

The difference is, with Carman, everyone assumed being from Ohio would win out in the end. In this recruitment, I’d say it means you shouldn’t pay attention at all until his third or fourth trip to campus that indicates genuine interest.

That might not turn out to be correct, who knows, recruiting is weird, but long story short, not a lot of optimism early here thanks to some really good info from @ShowMeBuck .

Doesn't want to play in cold weather, huh? Well, in 3-4 years, when Minnesota or Green Bay have the #1 pick, will he tell the GM who's looking to make him the #1 pick in the draft, and all the millions of dollars that entails, says "hey, I don't want to play in cold weather". Well, in these days of NIL, he can buy alot of winter coats, methinks. Howeve, on a semi-serious side, glad that tOSU is getting looks from more top-flight OL talent. Now, just gotta get the right bait, so we can land a big 'un. Go Bucks!

Take it with a HUGE grain of salt

May not be true at all in fact

I know he did a southern swing looking at schools and given his big time talent in shot put I suspect he may look at schools with a good opportunity for that as well.

Haven’t heard anything about tOSU with him but there’s time.
