2026 MO OL Jackson Cantwell (Miami Verbal)

makes no sense to gamble money on a guy who hasn't had a single snap in college. no matter how much hype there is.
Yep and especially at OL, which sounds counterintuitive because an elite LT is worth its weight in gold. However, OL is one of the most difficult positions to project for a kid coming out of HS, whereas you do devote more NIL resources to a guy like JJ Smith that was pretty much certain to be a star.

Good on the coaches for making him a priority initially but not using further resources if we are not engaging in a bidding war (see David Sanders as you mentioned above).

Agree fully with that method. It’s just too difficult for an OL to ever move up in level of competition and continue the same success when he’s now facing much better players who are now comparable size and strength. All the praise I’ve seen said about Cantwell, I saw the same about Sanders last year, Seaton the year before that Mauigoa the year before that. Of course it’s still early for all, and though Mauigoa has been all ACC, he’s not being considered as moving inside. Top ranked OTs shouldn’t have to move inside. Seaton looked pretty average last year, and was pretty bad in the run game. Sanders can prove me and all the doubters wrong, but he has an uphill battle

Will be interesting (to me at least), to see how this Baker guy fares when tOSU plays Texas in late summer. He was before Seaton and Sanders in the Buckeye's hopes and dreams. Does anyone recall if Sanders got on the field in the playoffs (against the Buckeyes certainly)? Did see that Seaton was starting at LT for Colorado, but Deion's sizzle didn't translate into wins up there. Anyway, it sounds like tOSU is doing better than usual in OL recruiting this year. Still more to be written. Go Bucks!

I'll reply to this in the 2025 Recruit thread as to not clutter Cantwell's thread
