Chivas has been the popular choice to fold or move for awhile now. They really should do one or the other, because they're always going to be an afterthought in LA.

As far as future expansion is concerned, I don't see MLS staying at 20 and trying to be like other world leagues, but more like most sports leagues in the U.S.A.. They have a salary cap, they don't have promotion/relegation, they don't have a single table, they do have a playoff that results in Champions League qualification, and they've even gone with an unbalanced schedule. My assumption is that MLS will continue to expand by moving into the south, and could expand enough to warrant a format similar one of the other sports leagues in the country. I don't see 30+ teams being out of the realm of possibility.

Well said. Continued expansion past 20 is a necessity for MLS, especially with how wildly successful the last few expansion cities have embraced and supported their teams. The more people that they can get involved, the more popular the league and the individual clubs will be in the future.

One area I grew up playing in and wish there was MLS representation is the North Carolina/Georgia area.

But if I had to put money on where a new team would be put or moved (not counting NYC FC), it would be Minneapolis, Indianapolis or Phoenix.

NC or SC would be #2 and 3 behind Miami.

Yeah, Miami is next in line for sure. Real Madrid are supposedly keen to sink some money into that. I don't really get it - Miami is a lousy sports town and I bet any club there will go over about like Chivas USA or the Tampa Bay Mutiny.

I bet a team in Charlotte would do really well - that?s where the smart money is, but it?s not where the headline investors want to put their chips down.

UPDATE (9:21 p.m.) ? Steven Goff of the Washington Post reports via Twitter that the Los Angeles Galaxy and Chicago Fire have agreed to a trade that will send Robbie Rogers? MLS rights to Los Angeles in exchange for the Galaxy?s leading scorer Mike Magee.

Magee, a native of Chicago, has scored six goals in 11 games for the Galaxy so far in 2013.

ORIGINAL POST - Months after coming out as gay and retiring from the game of soccer, American midfielder Robbie Rogers will make his return to the sport with Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer, according to a USA Today report.

According to the USA Today report, Rogers cited a visit on April 25 to a group of 500 kids at the Nike Be True LGBT Youth Forum in Portland as an ?epiphany.? Rogers referred to himself as a ?coward? for stepping away from soccer after revealing his sexuality in February and wanted to return to use his platform to become a role model for kids.

Rogers reportedly reached out to longtime friend and future teammate Landon Donovan and garnered support from him. After considering the circumstances surrounding his return to soccer, Rogers said his life is now ?in order? and he?s ready to return to the pitch.

Good for him. Hope he finds the form that eluded him in England. He's young and still has a lot to offer in MLS. Maybe he can find his way into a USMNT camp again too.

Good plans for D.C. United's new stadium.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local...c6594e-f315-11e2-ae43-b31dc363c3bf_story.html

They've had plans before, so this isn't anything new and they haven't broken ground.

I wish Crew Stadium could develop the land around the stadium (before any renovation of the stadium). Kind of give people options to do things before/after games within walking distance. But there are issues surrounding that.

Don Garber says three of the four MLS expansion clubs are already spoken for (not counting NYC FC). Chivas will probably move, so that takes care of one city (that doesn't have to be an expansion).

So Miami, Orlando and two other cities (plus Chivas and NYC FC). Georgia or North Carolina will get one, but probably not both.

I cannot recall another league in the world that has undergone as much stadium construction as MLS the past 5-8 years. It probably happened in Europe in the early 1900's.

Which is why the fanbases are only going to get crazier and crazier. I can guarantee you that a ton of people here in the states took notice to that atmosphere in the US-Mexico game. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Crew respond as a club to get that kind of support for MLS matches.
