George Kirby came into tonight having allowed only 3 HRs in his 9 starts. The Pirates had only hit 9 home runs in the month of May.
So, of course, the Pirates took Kirby deep 4 times in less than five innings because baseball.
Jack Suwinski became the only player not named Barry Bonds to drop two bombs into McCovey Cove in the same game.
Didn't matter, though. The Pirates lost 14-4.
Suwinski gives me Dave Kingman flashbacks. He's got 30 homers in 468 career ABs, but he's struck out 168 times and has a .214 average.
What I wouldn't give for the Donkey right nowI think you mean Adam Dunn and there is nothing wrong with a guy like that. High. Average and exceptional power are a rare combo. In the real world, a three true outcome guy is not the worst thing to have…..unless you have a manger that can’t process his value.

Statistically, Dunn and Kingman are practically twins. I just hope Suwinski doesn't turn out to be Rob Deer, a slightly lesser version of them.
