Yankees fans who interfered with Mookie Betts banned from World Series Game 5

i

Two New York Yankees fans have been banned from attending Game 5 of the World Series after interfering with Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts in Game 4.

The Yankees announced in a statement Wednesday that the fans "will not be permitted to attend tonight's game in any capacity" and added that the incident Tuesday night with Betts was "egregious and unacceptable."

A source told ESPN's Jesse Rogers earlier Wednesday that it was not immediately clear whether the ban against Austin Capobianco, a season-ticket holder, and John Peter would apply to any Yankee Stadium games next season.

Pediatric Cancer Patient Receives Banned Yankees Fans' MLB World Series G5 Tickets

The team announced that the tickets would instead be going to a "pediatric cancer patient and his family," according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Capobianco, a season-ticket holder, told ESPN's Jesse Rogers that the Yankees refunded him the cost of the Game 5 tickets and informed him that he would be arrested if he attempted to attend the contest. Per Rogers, a source added that it remains unclear if the ban for Capobianco and Peter would extend to next season.

"We're hoping for a short-term ban," Capobianco said. "We don't want to lose the season tickets."

Only banned from Game 5? Does that mean IF the Yankees win tonight and push it to another game he could go to Game 6?

Maybe a lifelong ban would be a bit harsh but he should be banned from MLB games for a least several years. I'd ban him for a decade. I guess anyone who's willing to spend that much money to go to a game will get some leeway though.

Yankees meltdown and now we got a ballgame. 5-5 top 6
Schadenfreude - watching the Yankees look like the Bad News Bears; with Aaron Judge dropping a fly ball right in front of his face, shortstop Volpe channelling the spirit of Steve Sax by missing a 30-foot throw to third base for a force-out, and their star pitcher not bothering to cover first base like he never went through Spring Training. Those 5 runs against Gerrit Cole were all unearned, but if he had covered first base the Dodgers wouldn’t have scored that inning.

It‘s too bad the Dodgers are the beneficiaries, but I’ll take anybody besides the Damn Yankees.
