Another reason why these seven-inning games are stupid. Since when can't MLers play two nine-inning games in a DHer?
Would he have completed the no hitter? We'll never know.

Just sayin': Starting the extra innings with a guy on 2nd is a stupid rule too.
The 9 or more inning to officially count as a no hitter rule was adopted in 1991 by MLB Commissioner Fay Vincent. It wasn’t changed when MLB shortened doubleheaders to 7 innings.

Another stupid/bad rule change:
Philadelphia Phillies' Bryce Harper exits after taking 96.9 mph pitch to his face against St. Louis Cardinals
After hitting Harper with his first pitch of the inning, Cabrera then hit the next batter, Didi Gregorius, leading to warnings for both benches. Phillies manager Joe Girardi came out of the dugout to complain to plate umpire Chris Segal and got kicked out of the game.
Matt Joyce was a pinch runner for Harper, and Gregorius remained in the game. Cabrera allowed an RBI single to Andrew McCutchen in the next at-bat before being relieved.
Per MLB rules, Cabrera had to face one more hitter to meet the minimum three-batter threshold before Cardinals manager Mike Shildt could pull him.
"[Cabrera] should be thrown out. I understand why they give the warnings, but if a guy hits a guy in the face and a guy in the ribs, with two pitches, he's gotta go, right?" Girardi said. "If you're really protecting players, he's got to go. Just for the safety of the players."
Shildt said he would have pulled Cabrera if he could have.
"It was a tie game. It was right in his spot," Shildt said. "It was completely unfortunate the ball got away from him. Our prayers are with Bryce Harper and we hope he's OK.
"It's a failure of the three-batter minimum. Completely, absolutely no doubt. You're talking about an aggressive young pitcher throwing to one of the superstars of this game. Clearly, he felt terrible. Everybody knows it was completely unintentional.''

I thought the three batter minimum rule was beyond stupid when I first saw it and this doesn't change my mind.
Also, I hate the Cardinals as much as anyone but I don't see him intending to hit either guy. It's late in a 3-3 game first of all and second, message sending plunks do not get thrown at the head. I think the pitcher just couldn't control it. I agree with Giraridi, he has to go from a safety perspective. You want to make a new rule for safety, take a page from armature baseball and make it an auto removal for any pitcher who hits 2 in one inning. Not an ejection, just has to leave the game.
Fuck these warnings. So now, if a Philly pitcher accidentally hits someone, he is auto-ejected. But if a Card pitcher were to hit another batter this inning, obviously he wasn't trying to, so he gets to stay in the game. Same thing happened over the weekend when Flaherty (another Card pitcher ) hit India in the head and then both dugouts get warned. I don't blame Bell for getting run in that game. It's bullshit.
That would be a great rule change for some chaos mode. Bring in the lefty who accidentally hits the first batter. And here comes a string of righties right after.....the manager can't pull him from the game yet, but he can sure as shit tell him to hit the next batter.
