MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

Starters often don't make it out of the 5th or throw more than 80-90 pitches today.

Amazing how it's changed.

When you're paying a guy $20,000 who cares if his arm falls off? When you're paying him $20 million you try to protect your investment.

I'm not sure how much that really works, but if your 20 million dollar baby blows out his elbow on pitch 130 you'll probably get fired.

Certainly has to be part of it.

Dodgers/Padres series has been on MLB Network the last couple nights.

I really enjoy watching Tatis Jr. mash baseballs and take it to the Dodgers. What a matchup. Will take this in October.

Been watching both teams and especially all the head to head games.

Talented, inspired, high level, fun baseball. Basically, not the Reds.

Another reason why these seven-inning games are stupid. Since when can't MLers play two nine-inning games in a DHer?

Would he have completed the no hitter? We'll never know.

NCAA MLB - slowly ruining football baseball (rules changes - merged)

Just sayin': Starting the extra innings with a guy on 2nd is a stupid rule too.

To me that's the equivalent of the NHL playing 5 minutes of three-on-three then having a shoot out or the NFL limiting OT to 10 minutes, to prevent marathon regular season games. They are all kinda silly, but they don't make the games shorter than regulation.

Seven-inning games are for high school and beer league softball. It's not a legitimate MLB game, as shown by Bumgarner's no hitter not counting as an official no hitter.
