The way Lindor is hitting, the Indians dodged a huge bullet in trading him rather than re-signing him to a mega-deal.

They have a special penchant for signing Indians who go off the cliff...like BaergaWho is the last big FA signing the Mets had that lived up to their contract?
I don’t expect Lindor will turn into a total turd, but I don’t see him living up to anything approaching that contract. There have been signs the past few years that he may have already peaked...and may even be in a bit of a decline. Since his best season in 2018, his BA, OBP, SLG, power peripherals and oWar have all declined. His WAR has dropped kind of significantly from 2018-2019-2020 to now being in the negatives. He’s just 27, so he could still go on to a very good career, but you don’t see a lot of players have huge seasons their age 24 seasons then not build on it some way if they aren’t done developing.
Loved the way he played the game and his infectious attitude when he was with the Tribe, but I’m legitimately thinking the Tribe chose wisely not dumping a monster contract into him and the Mets got fleeced...like Angels/Pujols fleeced.

Keith Hernandez? Kevin Mitchell? Weren't they FA's back in the day?
I have no idea.
To be fair, Baerga was a trade, not a FA.They have a special penchant for signing Indians who go off the cliff...like Baerga
Hernandez was a trade in 1983.
Kevin Mitchell broke in with the Mets in 1984.
That's right, Mitchell went to SF from the Mets, right? I had it backwards. Getting old.
