MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

Good point on not really missing much.....but people watch the NBA and NFL drafts because they watch NCAA basketball and football. Not as many people care about NCAA baseball. I could have told you that either Jamarcus Russell or Calvin Johnson was going to be taken #1, and that Greg Oden will be taken #1, but I couldn't name 1 college baseball player to save my life.

I don't see anything with them putting it on tv...It is better than the poker, or the reruns of cold pizza(first take) or whatever else they put on...

It also gives fan a chance to see what they are getting and have some analysts talk about the potential they are getting from the players they are drafting...

Luebke in the 3rd round here Reds would be awesome. Two more picks until Cincy.

Kellen Kulbacki, JMU just went 40th to San Diego. That guy can absolutely crush a baseball. I surprised he went as far down as he did. He's only a junior and his last two years were phenomenal.

Andrew Brackman from Cincinnati Moeller/NC State just went 30th overall to the Yankees...here is his full scouting report.

Minor League Baseball: Events: 2007 Draft Report

That could very well be a steal, he has had injury problems this year with his elbow, but he was a 1-2 pick in terms of talent and at 6-10 and him hitting 100 b4 he is going to have to use his whole arm to get the ball in teh mid 90 range...

BTW the Reds have taken a high school cather and a college SS...Both look to be solid players...

Just a couple other things from watching the draft, which was pretty good, it isnt a popularity thing like it is in the NFL, NBA where they get 15 minutes to pick, and they just talk about the same thing, but this is more like the 3rd-7th round NFL draft where you aren't familar with the guys, but with the MLB draft they did more reporting on the guys, with each pick, gave a nice overview of what goes on with the minors, and how they get to the majors and just some other things like signability, and other things...Very nice 3 hours spent of my time...Much better than anything else they would put on ESPN 2 at that hour of the day...
