Peter Gammons said something like Jackie "did more for America than anyone in the 20th Century". Maybe Peter should start a petition for Martin Luther King, Jr. day to be renamed, because the reaction to that might be educational for him.

If you're talking about before the game Peter Gammons was talking about Padres pitcher Chris Young (as mentioned above) and the stance he argues in his senior thesis while in undergrad.

Coming this June: The MLB draft on TV

The NFL and NBA drafts have been televised for years. Now, Major League Baseball is joining the trend.
For the first time in its history, the baseball entry draft will be aired live on ESPN2. Coverage will begin on Thursday, June 7th at 2 p.m. ET from Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The broadcast will end at 6 p.m. ET.
Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said the telecast, "will give fans access to see this critical function of an organization's development. This is an idea whose time has come."

Exactly how? It's a Thursday at 2PM on the Deuce. Are you pissed because you're gonna miss NBA Access w/ Ahmad Rashad & tired-ass WSOP reruns that afternoon?

Good point on not really missing much.....but people watch the NBA and NFL drafts because they watch NCAA basketball and football. Not as many people care about NCAA baseball. I could have told you that either Jamarcus Russell or Calvin Johnson was going to be taken #1, and that Greg Oden will be taken #1, but I couldn't name 1 college baseball player to save my life.

Well, I for one, am curious about for whom the Reds will be paying to have Tommy John surgery in three years.

I don't see anything with them putting it on tv...It is better than the poker, or the reruns of cold pizza(first take) or whatever else they put on...

It also gives fan a chance to see what they are getting and have some analysts talk about the potential they are getting from the players they are drafting...
