Evan Tanner Poised for Summer Return

One-time UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner (32-7 MMA, 11-5 UFC), just a few weeks removed from a disappointing UFC 82 loss to Yushin Okami, has agreed to a summer return, and he?s already accepted an opponent.

Tanner posted the news on his official website, evantanner.net, stating that he and UFC matchmaker Joe Silva had just spoken about the fight. However, he didn?t reveal an opponent or a return date for the summer event.

Tanner stated that it?s ?good to have a fight scheduled? again because ?the last two weeks have been really rough.? Tanner suffered a second-round knockout via knee at UFC 82, which soured his long-awaited return from a two-year layoff.

Rashad Evans Readies for Chuck Liddell

The title picture for the UFC?s light heavyweight division will become a lot clearer over the next couple months, but Rashad Evans is still unwilling to fight fellow contender and Team Jackson teammate Keith Jardine?even if it could earn him a shot at the title.

Evans, an undefeated light heavyweight and winner of ?The Ultimate Fighter 2,? talked about the state of the UFC?s light-heavyweight division and his June 7 UFC 85 main-event fight with Chuck Liddell while a recent guest on ESPN Radio?s ?Between Rounds? program.

And while he and Jardine may both be just a win or two away from a title shot, Evans said he?s not willing to battle his teammate and training partner to get it. As he said, it?s just ?not worth it.?

It's so interesting... because Kimbo is so not network tv material... he's more like a pay-per-view type of guy. The censors will be busy that night.

I was thinking the same thing lol. I'm surprised that they're going to be showing MMA on a national network, that anyone and their brother can watch. Even for those that still have rabbit ears attached to their tv

Shamrock, Le battle for San Jose supremacy

The biggest hotbed for American mixed martial arts is easily Las Vegas. Sin City hosts many, if not most, of the sport's biggest fights. But the second hottest city for MMA is a much more unlikely location.

It's not Los Angeles or New York or Chicago. It is a city without a major pro football, baseball or basketball franchise. It has never been host of a UFC event. Yet San Jose, Calif., over the past two years has held more heavily attended events than any city except Vegas.

It all started on March 10, 2006. Frank Shamrock and Cesar Gracie fought in a bout that captivated the local imagination, while the popular San Shou champion Cung Le made his MMA debut. A total of 18,265 fans attended the card at the HP Pavilion, setting what was then the all-time North American MMA record. Shamrock and Le won their fights in impressive fashion, and they have been on a collision course ever since.

Le batters Shamrock, wrests Strikeforce middleweight title

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Frank Shamrock promised to stand and trade with Cung Le.

After living up to his word Saturday evening, the self-professed No. 1 fighter in mixed martial arts will need surgery to repair his broken and displaced right wrist.

Attempting his first defense of the Strikeforce middleweight belt, Shamrock, a master game planner, engaged in an exciting -- and confounding -- toe-to-toe affair with the undefeated kickboxer, who has appeared in just six MMA contests to the venerable champion's 34.
