Mixed Martial Arts (Official Thread)

the explaination I heard on the Chuck interview was that he was exhausted from a whirlwind of promotional work for UFC and doing a movie. To the other point the UFC has been notoriously cheap paying fighters, except for the huge stars. PRIDE has fought overseas filling up huge stadiums, not sure how much tickets are or how much revenue they bring in. It has been stated for awhile that PRIDE was in financial trouble, as ballin mentioned earlier that could have to do with possible mafia involvement.

The reason I am excited about this is it should set up matches that wouldn't have been seen otherwise, right?

I'm still new to MMA. I only started following within the last six months.

It should but who knows. Dana likes the big money ticket but he also likes to keep people hungry. If Shogun doesnt fight Chuck in the next year this merger is a sham. Otherwise im optimistic. I always considered myself a PRIDE guy but I want the top fight org to be in the states... next year Coleman vs someone will happen in Columbus... then maybe retirement. He and Randy are the same age. When Fedor gets over here things will get interesting. I cant wait to see what comes of this.

We still don't really know what is going to happen contract wise. Regarding the Chuck and Shogun fight; the only way this doesn't happen is if Chuck tries to move up, or if Dana won't let it to protect Chuck. FWIW, I see Shogun winning this fight. I hope Dana does the right thing rather than show off UFC fighters, or protect certain fighters.

O yeah. I really want to see Kevin get back into things. I feel bad for him with all the slip-ups he has had.

I still have hope he gets his shit together and has one more upset in him. Would like to see him fight in the states and put it together and go out with style... ala crocop knock out. I hear he is on the road to full recovery so who knows...

That is what I have heard. I think a lot of it is bad luck. The guy is a ridiculous specimen, and he never loses from lack of training or heart. The way he battled against Shogun was remarkable. Not to mention, if he had slammed anyone besides Fedor in that manner he would have knocked them out.
And on the topic of Hammer House, I hope Baroni works Shamrocks shit.
