Mirror Lake Jump (official thread)

You jump in that water this year...God Bless. lol

EMTs were on hand tonight with foil heat-retention rescue blankets passing them out like candy to trick-or-treaters. If the school decides to sell naming rights to mirror lake jump nights they should hit up Chipotle, because there were a few hundred students that looked like Chipotle burritos milling around.

The Mirror Lake area will be fenced off and students will be required to wear wristbands to jump or watch for the second straight year.

Because the admins are fucking communists. There were minor injuries in years past but nothing serious. The stupid thing about it is the wristbands do zero to make anything safer...even if they did, the students were not having it last year. They refused to wear them and broke the fence down after a student gave an epic Braveheart speech.

But agreed above. The university just exposed themselves to a whole new theory of liability by essentially sponsoring the event and attempting to supervise it. Go back to having paramedics and police on standby, but otherwise ignoring it.

I remember as a kid, there used to be media stories about bands having lyrics censored by Target/Walmart/et. al. ... it only drove sales higher.
Tearing down fences is just going to become a new aspect of this tradition while driving more interest in it.

Don't let The Man get you down...

edit: Less time should be spent stopping these kids from tradition and more time cleaning up the lake in the weeks leading up the The Jump. Pretty sure I saw a used diaper my first time.
