Minny at tOSU, Sat. 11/18, 4pm, BTN

I still remember the only loss to Minnesota since I became a fan of tOSU
We were riding high after beating Wisconsin on the road. Top 10 team. Cooper looked to regain the winning ways after the debacle of 1999.
Instead Minnesota and Ron Johnson showed up to play

Ugh I was at both the game at Wisky and then the following week's home game vs minn. Talk about roller coaster of emotion

I still remember a 31 point comeback win over Minnesota in 1989:

Football Flashback: Buckeyes Tie NCAA Record in Comeback Win at Minnesota in 1989 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State trailed Minnesota, 31-0, but staged an incredible comeback and defeated the Gophers 41-37, tying the record for the largest deficit overcome by a Division I-A team.

Only on Nov. 10, 1984 — when Maryland rallied from a 31-0 deficit to beat Miami of Florida 42-40 — had an NCAA Division I-A team ever finished such a comeback.

“It definitely was a great comeback. Had to be the greatest,” said Carlos Snow, who caught two TD passes. “It certainly was the greatest game I’ve ever been a part of. I’m proud to have been in it.”

The Buckeyes had to overcome six turnovers to beat the Gophers for the eighth straight year and the 20th time in 21 meetings since 1969.

Even though it blew a lead of historic proportions, Minnesota still had a chance to win. But Steve Rhem could only get one hand on Scott Schaffner’s 22-yard pass into the end zone as time expired.

this is a fantastic memory for 11 year old me and my pops. Reynoldsburg trick or treat was that day and my dad was ready to turn the game off and take me and my little brother out to get candy when i told him "no dad theyre going to make a comeback!"

Just go ahead and jump to the 17 minute mark if you are going to watch that video. I can't imagine Frey ever had a second half like that again -- 18-23 for 317 yards after being 2-8 for 35 yards in the first half. It makes no sense at all.

Also, can you imagine an OSU game being broadcast on WOSU these days?

Thanks for the tip, I did just that. Crazy comeback. I was barely a year old for that one, so obviously I don't remember anything about that team...but was Frey 40 years old that year? When he took his helmet off at the end it looked like he was a retired NFL veteran QB, or Weinke in his last year at FSU haha. Also, what an improvement on their old stadium, I forgot about how ugly that old one was.

That's the last time I saw Minnesota in The Shoe. We kept looking at each other like "Who the fuck is Ron Johnson?"

He had more receiving yards in that game than in his entire NFL career.

If I remember correctly, back in those days WOSU showed the game the next day with Paul Warfield on the broadcast team. Most OSU games were not shown on TV live (in fact, the rule at one time was only 3 times in 2 years and The Game was always shown.)
