Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

"Big Play" (Yeah, right) Ray Buchanan apparently dropped a dime on Vick's participation in the dog fighting. I think that's the first break in the levee, it's all going to come out now. Vick's a fucking sack.
Sending the falcons spiraling downward this season... leading to Petrino drafting Brohm in the first to right the ship.

Ray Buchanan was ran his mouth about other Falcons in the past and was proven wrong. He may very well be right about Vick, but has shown a bit of bitterness toward Atlanta since being let go. I would imagine if Ray is right then the avalanche will be coming sooner than later. I will be surprised if Vick isn't suspended for part of this season at this point.

Vick active in dog-fighting at house he owned, sources say

08:33 PM EDT on Monday, May 14, 2007

Reported by: Patrick Terpstra
Two different sources in law enforcement say NFL quarterback Michael Vick not only knew about the dog fighting at a house he owned, but that he was an active participant at the fights that allegedly took place behind the house.

When investigators took a peek behind Vick?s property last month, they found dozens of pit bulls with cuts and scars. They discovered a fighting ring, treadmills and blood soaked carpeting, but they also found documents they say, "Absolutely link Vick to the dog-fighting operation."

Is it not weird to everyone else that people in the investigation are saying that Vick is guilty...

I thought that normal routine was to not comment on things in an on going investigation...

I don't know if he is guilty in the legal sense of the term.

But it's obvious to anybody who isn't a fool that he is lying. Yeah, I own this house, I let my cousins live there, I know there are dogs there, they don't have any money (b/c they are free loaders) and get it all from me, but no, I have no idea what is going on in there.

Yeah, that's believable. :roll1:

I am not saying that I believe Vick that he didnt know what was going on, but it really is unprovable without evidence and some eyewitnesses...These unnamed sources arent going to cut it in court...

A for believing Vick, I know that I have cousins that I have no idea what they do, hell I have them that I couldnt even tell you where their house is.

The problem with these athletes is once they make money, they just start handing things out when all these people start asking and for some it gets hard to say no...

Also I don't think that it would be out of the question for him to think that he was just raising pitbulls, not necessairly fighting them...Either way he is going to admit it, he will take it to court...

well, you aren't close w/ your cousins. If you were close enough that you'd basically pay for their house and their drugs or whatever they do, you'd probably know what they were doing.

Not necessairly...When you have all that money, people like that come out of the woodwork, the problem like I said is the athlete saying no, the relatives always feel like they are owed something...

I am in no way saying that he didnt know, just saying that I don't think it is out of the question for a distance cousin to come to the superstar and ask for money...I am sure it happens all the time...

Videotapes sought of Vick watching dog fights

By Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports
May 15, 2007

The lead investigator in the case of dog-fighting accusations against Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick said Monday that she believes there is substantial evidence to eventually tie Vick directly to the felony crime.

That evidence could eventually include videotapes of Vick at matches. Kathy Strouse, the Animal Control coordinator for the City of Chesapeake in Virginia, said Monday that she has received a tip from what is described as a "reliable source" that tapes of Vick exist that would tie him directly to the burgeoning scandal and a possible felony charge.

"We don't know where (the tapes) are or if they do indeed exist, but I have been told that they are out there," said Strouse, who is also affiliated with two other organizations involved in the welfare of animals. "Without knowing where they are, there's no possibility of getting a search warrant at this point."

Strouse said she has also talked with individuals who can "put Vick on that property" during matches. However, those individuals have been reluctant to testify at this point, leaving much of the evidence against Vick that has become public at this point as circumstantial.... continues...

Once again why do you tell the news this?

probably because:
1. The lead investigators hate Vick b/c they know he's involved in this
2. They know they will never convict him
3. They know that a conviction means nothing anyway if they can turn public opinion and NFL opinion against him. he doesn't need to be charged to be suspended.

The same reason any investigation/trial has leaks... it sells.

At this point, it's real hard to feel bad for the guy when these details leak out, regardless of the avenue.
