Falcons traded the wrong QB

To get to the point, the Falcons traded the wrong quarterback. Of course, that?s an illogical conclusion. They had no alternative. How are they going to dump a $70 million load on some other NFL team? The logical conclusion is that Arthur Blank and his franchise are wed to Michael Vick, and when an athlete?s picture begins to appear more often on the front page than the sports page, it?s a marriage in trouble.
Now, having said all that, you?ll note the modest little line that appears beneath the picture of that grizzled old guy accompanying this column, that what is written here is strictly my opinion. The very notion that the Falcons could have traded Vick rather than Matt Schaub is preposterous. But it was a question of hanging onto the quarterback from Wahoo U. and losing him next winter. Schaub is a commodity. He is a quarterback in the NFL tradition, drop back, find the target, deliver the pass or hand off. Run only when under defensive duress.

Vick gives $10,000 for Va. Tech families

Associated Press

ATLANTA - Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has teamed up with the United Way to donate $10,000 to assist families affected by the massacre at Virginia Tech, his former school.
"When tragic things like this happen, families have enough to deal with, and if I can help in some small way, that's the least I can do," said Vick, who played for the Hokies before being drafted No. 1 overall by the Falcons in 2001.
The Vick Foundation is collecting donations from local communities in both Atlanta and Virginia that will be placed in the United In Caring Fund for Victims of the VA Tech Tragedy and the special fund at the United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd counties, which serves the Virginia Tech area.

From SI.COM:

He must not have wanted to lose another "water bottle". :wink2:

Michael Vick was a no-show for a Capitol Hill breakfast Tuesday at which he was to speak to some members of Congress about the need to increase funding for after-school programs. The director of Vick's foundation said Vick missed his connection in Atlanta. A spokesman for AirTran, which Vick has an endorsement deal with, said Vick was confirmed on a later flight Monday night to Washington and he did not show up for the flight.

Wow, WTF is wrong with him? I realize he does not live there and his nephew does, but it is in his name. Also, it looks bad that he has been under investigation for some time for these activities. That would tell me, if it turns out to be true, that he had direct knowledge of it. He could be the next NFL player getting a meeting with the Commish.
