The Man;634538; said:see previous comment. Jenkins dropped at least 3 balls today. He is now the one Falcon that gets booed at the Georgia Dome on a regular basis. Sad.....
The Man;634551; said:Maybe. Trust me I am not in the "Vick can do no wrong" camp, he holds the ball way too long some times and takes sacks that he shouldn't. All I am saying is the WR's are not doing him any favors.
His WRs can't catch, and he continues to have no blocking? Sounds a lot like Drew Stanton on saturday.OMG...
Vick played one of his best games he has ever played today. He threw the ball the best I have ever seen him play, he ran for 68 yards and a td.
The ball that he threw to Jenks was one of the best balls I have ever seen, on the run after pump faking Arrington and then getting outside and hitting Jenks right in the hands.
His first INT was right in the hands of Roddy White and gave the Giants the ball back when they had great field position on on their way to score.
The one bad play Vick had was the fumble, where he pulled the ball out late, and dropped it on the QB option play.
He also got sacked 7 FREAKIN' times. A guy with that mobility should never get sacked 7 times. There were times when he couldnt even set up and he was getting killed.
As for the receivers I have no idea what is up. I am honestly suprised we won the NC in 2002, I mean from watching today one would think that Jenks would of dropped Holy Buckeye or the 4th and 14. And then Roddy had at least 3 drops today and Alge had one. To go with Jenks what seemed like 4 or 5. I remember two bad throws by Vick all day and that was it.
And also the damn defense freakin' sucked ass today and couldnt even get the ball to Vick. We went up 14-3 and then they scored 24 unanswered pts, and they are not that good.:!
How many years of terrible WR play must occur before they can be ruled to be terrible?I'd buy the "its his receivers" argument if this were some type of abberration. It is not. 6 years in the NFL is long enough to determine that no matter who is playing WR Vick is a terrible passer.

As for the new found "his running offsets the bad passing" argument; if you now want to judge Vick by the falcons offensive production fine. His team scores 17.2 ppg after 4 games which is in the bottom 10 of all NFL teams.
His team doesn't win enough to call him a game manager type QB or say he just wins games.
His team doesn't score enough to say that they just get it done by running instead of passing.
His passing stats have sucked so bad for so long you can't just blame it on dropped balls.
As always, the hype is undeserved.

I don't care how shitty his WR's are. There's no way it was his best game with those numbers... and yes, I did see the game.
jax said:He gets measured by the same stats as everyone else, his receivers drop balls just like every othe NFL QB's do. He has a large sample size of data to draw conclusions from. His passing numbers are flat out abysmal.
crazybuckfan40;634740; said:Find on here where anyone said he was a great passer. His great running offsets his not so accurate passing. Please let me know tho when Vick has had a probowl receiver??? It could only help I mean an NFL receiver should catch the ball if it hits hands right??? Agree??
We as buckeye fans should understand this better than anyone else. Running the hell out of the ball shortens the games, for less game. I bet you could go look at the numbers and the Falcons would be in the bottom part of the league in terms of how many plays there are in their games. Agree??
He has won plenty of games in the NFL. He has a good record and last year the team had a 6-2 record until the damn defense just fell apart. People watching the games know this. See today for example...
Thats weird they have a winning record. I have no problem with a team that is winning games. It doesnt matter if you score 30 or 2 as long as you have more points than the other team. If they are up they will try and take the air out of the ball and shorten the game. Seems like good thinking to me if you have the best running offense in the league if you ask me, but maybe I am just crazy.
You sound like one of those people that would complain about our 2002 NC when we won, but it wasnt pretty.
The hype comes from his ability to go the distance any times he has the ball in his hands, and the fact that he wins.
I will say that Vick is back to his oldself, while he wasnt last year as he tried to let ppl like you get to him and tell him he cant be a good qb. The Falcons win today if the D doesnt fall apart and WR's catch balls. I don't think there is anyone in their right mind that blames the game on Vick.
Jaxbuck;634759; said:All NFL QB's have WR's drop passes. Not all have career numbers as bad as Vicks.
When they start awarding wins and losses by TOP or number of plays run or whatever then yeah, I'll admit he's a master. Untill then I'll judge how potent an offense is by how many points they score and his scores 17 ppg. So if the running balances out the shitty passing why are they in the bottom 1/3 of all NFL teams in scoring?
His career win % coming into '06 equates to a 10-6 record over 16 games. I know you don't like numbers and all but thats the cold hard fact of it.
No actually I'm one of those people who admire teams like 2002. All substance and no flash, which is the polar opposite of Ron Mexico.
The opposing defense is also just as likely to score anytime he has the ball in his hands and he has never won shit either in college of the NFL.
He can't be a good QB. It's not fans telling him that its 5 years and counting of his own production. And I'm not blaming any wins or losses on him. As always I'm just saying his game doesn't equal the hype.
I've said many times on this thread Vick will never be a strong passing QB. That doesn't prevent me from noticing that his numbers are even worse due to awful WR play.Jaxbuck;634748; said:If you seriously believe Vicks poor passing numbers over his entire career are due to dropped balls from sub par WR's then I don't know what else to say. We live in two different universes.
This might be the worst argument yet. However, by that same logic I could say his INT totals should be doubled because the other teams DB's can't catch or they would have dozens more picked off.
Really? I don't see WRs always dropping passes in Indy, Washington, Cincinnati, Carolina, New Orleans, New England, Arizona, New York, Denver, San Diego, Philadelphia, and St. Louis. He gets measured by the same stats as everyone else, his receivers drop balls just like every othe NFL QB's do.
Well said.My impression: Vick is an average QB, and an incredibly exciting player. He will also always be a lightning rod for criticism because of all the hype he has recieved in his career. DC's do have to plan for him more than any other QB in the NFL because of his speed and athleticism. If he could improve his accuracy and decision making (and granted get some better WRs) he would be deadly. But he is now in his sixth NFL season, and if it ain't happened yet, I doubt it ever will. Atlanta is a better team with him than without him, but I don't see them ever getting to a SB with Mike Vick under center. 10-6 records and occasional playoff wins will come so long as he has a good enough supporting cast, but thats about it in my mind. Unfortunately his style of play just doesn't cross over well from college or the Playstation to the real pro game. Yes, I also feel the same way about VY, unless he becomes more of a McNair type field general and relies less on his athleticism.
His "great running" still only helps him in being outside of the top 20 QBs in the league in total yardage per game. So, again, it does not make up for his piss poor passing. It also helps him fumble more, and I'm pretty sure that that's not his receivers fault.crazybuckfan40;634740; said:Find on here where anyone said he was a great passer.
